The Government of Nepal welcomes the signing of the "The Islamabad Memorandum of Understanding Between the United States of America and the Islamic Republic of Iran" today.
We welcomed the announcement of a ceasefire on 8 April 2026 and are encouraged to witness the successful culmination of diplomatic efforts in signing of the United States-Iran Peace Deal by the Presidents of the United States and Iran.
The Government of Nepal has been closely monitoring the developments in West Asia since the onset of the conflict, which has had far-reaching implications for the global economy including Nepal. Nepal remains hopeful that the Peace Deal will contribute to lasting peace and stability in West Asia, while facilitating the normalisation of the maritime navigation affected by the conflict.
Nepal also deeply appreciates the pivotal role played by the countries mediating the process and reiterates its support to all the efforts by the international community aimed at promoting peace and stability in the region and beyond.
Upon completing his official visit to People's Republic of China, Hon. Minister for Foreign Affairs Mr. Shisir Khanal returned to Kathmandu from Beijing today.

It was a pleasure to meet H.E. Mr Wang Yi, Member of the Political Bureau of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China and Minister of Foreign Affairs of the People’s Republic of China, in Beijing today. We held comprehensive discussion on the entire gamut of bilateral relations, including in the areas of connectivity, border management, trade, technology transfer and multilateral cooperation. We also exchanged views on expanding people to people ties and reaffirmed shared commitment to further strengthening Nepal–china relations for mutual benefit of our two countries.

The Ministry, in collaboration with the Institute for Integrated Development Studies (IIDS), organised an interaction programme on Country Strategy Formulation and Implementation for the promotion of Economic Diplomacy at the Ministry today.
Hon. Foreign Minister Mr Shisir Khanal, addressing the event, underscored the need for priority-based country-specific plans and programmes on economic diplomacy. Foreign Secretary Mr Amrit Bahadur Rai stressed the importance of a strategic and results-oriented approach to economic diplomacy.
