We were disappointed that no one from @Spotify management came to our first bargaining session, so we're inviting Sahar Elhabashi & Liliana Kim to join us at the table next week! Read our letter to them, signed by our unit and @ParcastUnion
it's been less than a month since Spotify shuttered Gimlet & Parcast as we knew them. which means there are a lot of amazing talented podcasters out there still looking for work!
anyway hire me and my friends pls <3

3 weeks since the layoff and it still feels weirdly fresh. But! I have a long flight tomorrow and am available if any of my journalist friends need transcribing done. $1/audio minute ($1.50 for rush jobs) and my email is [email protected]. Tell your friends! ❤️
new from me: inside spotify's massive podcast pivot. i spoke to 10+ current and former employees to capture the scene leading up to last week's cuts. the layoffs triggered CA's WARN act bc they were so deep + the uncertain future of specific union efforts

I'm still processing my layoff from Spotify podcasts (and likely will be for a while, I LOVED my job), BUT now is as good a time as ever to put out a shameless reminder of the services that I offer: (1/5)
Seriously. What Spotify did to Parcast is fucked up.
They acquired the network, then gutted some very good podcasts and laid off lots of people.
They should have just left Parcast alone in the first place.
Capitalism ruins everything.
Hire me to research and fact-check your project! My resume (alongside so many talented writers, editors, fact-checkers, researchers) is here. We're the former staff of @ParcastNetwork: https://t.co/8qcnfz55Gs
Sarah is such a perceptive editor that it makes my brain hurt a little bit. I was always blown away by the ways she could level up both a script AND the writer working on it with detailed notes and sharp questions -- any team would be lucky to have her!
Mallory balanced her formidable writing and editing slate with chairing our union's DEIA committee, working with internal ERGs, AND being a professor (!!!) at USC, and somehow made it all look easy. Her passion and talent for inclusive and ethical storytelling is infectious.
Parcast, and especially the @ParcastUnion, would be nothing without Angela. She'd clear-eyed and open-hearted leader, both creatively and professionally, AND an incredibly talented writer and editor!
(1) Lest we forget, Spotify ACQUIRED Parcast. (2) There are many ways for a show to become profitable; lack of profitability ≠ lack of quality. (3) We had MANY, LOYAL listeners, yet very little insight on them. Maybe water your garden instead of just burning it.
