The objective data of my research shows Senior Designation process is an Interaction-First system, not a Merit-First system. The 25-point interview is heavy enough to act as a "kill switch" for high-merit candidates and a "turbo-boost" for low-merit ones
I have published a new research - Senior Designation at the Punjab & Haryana High Court 2025: When a One-Shot Interview Becomes the Gatekeeper. https://t.co/XrnZAwHsjM How HC data shows red flag for Article 14 values, institutional legitimacy, and the profession’s confidence.
While where the committee found 27 such individual advocates from below 50 percentile, about 51 such deserving names were not recommended for designation from 50-100 percentile!

The graph also shows that the P&H Committee recommended the highest number from the single category of 25-50th percentile which is 27 advocates for designation.
As per the research, from the compiled data, about 30 individual advocates from HC P&H were recommended for Senior Designation 2025 from 0-50 percentile, while 24 individual advocates were only considered from merit or 50-90 percentile.

A firestorm of debate has ignited in India since I walked off a podcast due to the poor air quality.
