Can I touch you? he asks.
Okay, she says.
Now? he asks.
Soon, she says.
Everything is still.
Now, she says.
They touch.

Getting ready for vacation in L.A. with poetry: “At night the mockingbirds ring their warnings of cats coming across the neighborhoods. Like castanets in the palms of a dancer, the palm trees clack.” -Fanny Howe #poetry
Through the window
Pimpled with rain
I watch the wind marry two poplars
Beneath,
Two clefs jog on a body
A tiny detonation of colour in grey muddle
A pigment puddle
The bib of a robin
A flash dash to undergrowth
What you got going on in there I say
My breath annealing the glass
Everything is crawling today
The clouds
The wind
A dislocated old wheel, the wood that rots around it
Pregnant with black beetles and vines
The kind that crawl
