Happy International Beer Day🍻
Did you know: Brewing began in pre-colonial West Africa as the production of liquor, beer, and wine is related to traditional spirituality. These drinks were shared among the elders during weddings and funerals!
BREAKING: President Biden has announced that on Tuesday he will sign a proclamation to establish a national monument honoring Emmett Till and his mother Mamie Till-Mobley.
Details:
- The National Monument will span across 3 locations in Illinois and Mississippi, and according to The Independent will "protect places that are central to the story of Till's life and death at age 14, the acquittal of his white killers and his mother's activism, which helped spark the civil rights movement."
- Emmett Till was lynched as a teen in Mississippi in 1955 after being accused of whistling at a white woman.
- Tuesday is the anniversary of Till's birth in 1941.
This is an action that all Americans should be able to get behind.
Thank you Joe Biden.
During the 1940s it was rare for a black person to have control over large amounts of land.
In 1944, a group of white men brutally lynched Rev. Isaac Simmons, a Black minister & farmer, so they could steal his land in Amite County, Mississippi which was over 270 acres

Please stop using “third world countries” to describe nations that are struggling in large part due to the trauma and generational impact of white supremacy, imperialism, and colonialism.
Let’s not use the phrase, period.

The South is NOT ok. These republican led state legislatures are rolling back our rights. They’re arresting us legislators, trying to expel us, banning books, trying to erase the LGBTQ community, banning abortions, loosening gun laws meanwhile our standard of living is going down
Pat Schroeder. One incredible American. Stalwart advocate for women’s rights in congress. Rest in Peace.
Without Pat, I and hundreds of other women wouldn’t have been able to serve as fighter pilots and in other combat roles in our military. This was when I thanked her.
The passing of former Congresswoman Pat Schroeder is a profound loss for our Nation. In the House, Congresswoman Schroeder was an effective legislative force, whose bold vision and firm values helped deliver progress for America’s women, servicemembers and working families.
Grieving the loss of former U.S. Rep. Pat Schroeder, pioneer for women's and family rights. Asked once how she could be both a mother of two small children and a member of Congress, she replied, "I have a brain and a uterus, and I use both.″

“When you look to fascist regimes, it starts with beating down the press. Beating down academics. Excluding minorities. Targeting minorities… you control all levels of government… to me, that's what it looks like is going on right now.” Rep Tina Polsky https://t.co/Yfsko9sX9Q
You may not be LGBTQ, Black, an immigrant, woman, student, teacher, professor, blogger, newspaper, elected prosecutor, a business with an opinion, or gun violence victim…
…but eventually the black hole that is Ron DeSantis’ culture wars will consume you and your freedoms too.
