When Presley Gerber got "MISUNDERSTOOD" tattooed on his face in 2020, the internet turned it into a viral joke.
Nobody wanted to see it for what it actually was: a 20-year-old crying out for help in plain sight.
While people made memes, he spent the next six years starting "Mental Health Mondays" and fighting a decade-long battle with addiction alongside his family only to pass away in a rehab facility at 27.
The internet preaches mental health awareness 24/7, but the second someone’s pain looks messy or weird, it turns into content until it’s too late.
May his soul rest in peace 🕊️
The "highest-grossing actor of all time" debate highlights how completely Hollywood redefined what a movie star is.
In the 90s, box office totals meant your name on a poster pulled people into seats for an original script. Today, it mostly means you held a contract in two mega-franchises.
We stopped measuring individual star power and started measuring corporate IP volume.
I get we all talking about Metroid Prime 4: Beyond again after the latest Nintendo Direct, but people are completely missing the funniest psychological contradiction about Samus Aran
Gamers romanticize Samus as this ultra-cold, silent galactic bounty hunter who operates as a ruthless, solitary killing machine.
But when you actually analyze the series setup, Samus isn't some hardened space mercenary; she's literally just the universe’s most exhausted interstellar pest control technician.
The Galactic Federation has space stations, hyper-advanced military fleets, and literal mech armies, but the second a rogue alien parasite or giant lizard shows up, they dial Samus to single-handedly exterminate an entire planet's ecosystem and blow it up before lunch.
She doesn't even get paid in cash half the time; she just gets her own equipment stolen, spends 15 hours finding her own boots in a cave, and flies home in silence.
Modern sci-fi treats Samus like a legendary cosmic warrior, but she’s really just an underpaid contractor who keeps showing up to clean up everyone else's hazardous bio-waste.
The 130 million player milestone for Diablo is a wild stat, but it highlights a fundamental live-service dilemma.
The original worked because Sanctuary felt lonely, terrifying, and isolated. Mass-market scale turns that same world into a crowded, cosmetic-filled multiplayer hub.
Global expansion gave the franchise scale, but stripped away the dread that built it.
Voldemort is actually one of the funniest examples of a villain people completely misunderstood
Bro spent his entire life terrified of death, obsessed with blood purity, desperate to become immortal, and surrounded himself with people too scared to tell him he was embarrassing.
He wasn't just evil.
He was an insecure man with unlimited power and absolutely no emotional growth.
And somehow THAT is the guy people are still scared to say is pathetic.
The most compelling part of Lady Gaga stepping into motherhood isn't the headline; it’s how completely quiet she kept it.
This is an icon who spent fifteen years treating her entire existence as high-concept performance art. She arrived at events in vessel eggs, wore meat dresses, and built a legacy on hyper-visibility and dramatic spectacle.
For years, the public assumed that someone who lived that loudly on stage would naturally turn personal milestones into a public events.
Instead, she did the most radical thing a global pop star can do: she finished a stadium tour, stepped completely out of the spotlight, and kept her biggest life chapter entirely for herself.
When an artist spends their twenties and thirties giving every drop of their identity to an audience of millions, real privacy feeling like secrecy; it becomes the ultimate form of self-preservation.
There's something beautiful about this being LeBron's first video.
Not a workout.
Not a day in his life.
Not some flashy Hollywood production.
He went back to the people who helped him create one of the most important memories of his career.
That's what gets more valuable as you get older.
I borrowed ₦300,000 from my older brother once.
He didn't ask for collateral. No interest. No long speech.
He just transferred the money and said, “Pay me when you can.”
I needed it badly, so I was relieved.
Three months later, I had only managed to return ₦100,000.
Then we had a family meeting.
My brother mentioned the money.
Not angrily. Almost casually.
"I'm still waiting for the remaining ₦200k."
I said I knew and apologized.
Nobody said anything.
But somehow, the room became uncomfortable.
My mother looked at me.
One of my aunties sighed.
Someone even said, "Family shouldn't be doing this to family."
That day, I realized I was also borrowing from the entire family's perception of me.
I eventually paid everything back.
But I stopped borrowing family money after that.
Not because my brother did anything wrong.
He actually did me a huge favor.
The problem was that family loans rarely come with paperwork, interest rates or deadlines.
They come with expectations.
And when you miss the payment, you aren't just late on a debt.
You can become the person everyone quietly discusses after you leave the room.
For 30 years, my family had an unspoken rule: my older brother was the golden child, and I was the disappointment.
He got the private university tuition.
I got student loans.
He got the lavish wedding funding.
I got a dinner party.
When our parents grew frail, he was "too busy with his big career" to visit. So I moved into their neighborhood, ran their errands, managed their doctors, and covered their living expenses for twelve years quietly, without complaining.
Last month, my father passed away. My brother flew in for the funeral, already asking about the family home and father's investments.
Yesterday was the reading of the will.
My brother sat at the attorney’s desk with his arms folded, looking casually triumphant.
The lawyer cleared his throat and read my father’s exact words:
"To my eldest son: I spent my entire life pouring everything into you, believing you were my legacy. But in my final twelve years, when I had nothing left to offer, you vanished. I leave you $100 so you cannot claim I forgot you."
My brother froze. The room went dead silent.
The lawyer flipped the page.
"To my youngest: You paid for my care when I pretended I had no money left. You held my hand when I was afraid. Everything I own including this house was bought with the money you gave me, which I saved in secret to return to you. You were never second best. I was just too blind to see it sooner."
My brother stood up, slamming his hands on the desk.
"This isn't fair! I'm the eldest! Who is going to pay for my business expansion?!"
I stood up, gathered my father’s keys from the table, and looked him straight in the eye:
"You should call your father. Oh, wait..."
I walked out and left him with the lawyer. 🗝️
The uncomfortable reality of modern transactional dating is that both people usually lie to themselves about what they're trading.
A man covers two weeks in Miami expecting affection. A woman accepts the trip expecting her presence to be full payment.
When you strip away genuine mutual attraction and replace it with spending power, intimacy becomes a tax and excuses become the tax dodge.
A 14-day stomach ache that pauses strictly between appetizers and dessert isn't a medical mystery; it's physical resistance to a deal she didn't actually want to fulfill.
When dating turns into an exchange of assets, you can't be surprised when people start acting like ruthless contract negotiators.
The hardest thing about losing fast money isn't losing the house or the car.
It's trying to survive when your bank balance says zero, but your ego is still living in a Chevron mansion.
Unearned wealth gives you the lifestyle of an adult before you develop the character of one.
@_empighalo If sanity is guaranteed in the NLS , why then does it produce what could be reported to be referred to as the direct opposite of the former in the NJC?
I am aware this is the banner at a prominent mosque in Lagos.
1. I like the bold concept at sharing their ‘truth’.
The powerful thing about Islam is their radicalism, their unfettered clarity of purpose, their reproductive capacity to raise children and families after their world view.
Unlike Christians, true Muslims have no tolerance for political correctness or lukewarmness, they are indoctrinated to recite the Quran and taught to live their lives from the root of their beliefs.
On the other hand, Christians are often weak about their faith, often political in reasoning, often lack the spine for doctrinal defense and often feel the need for inclusion without the courage for truth.
2. Islamism has nothing to say without Christianity. If they don’t fight Christianity, they have no purpose of themselves.
You won’t find Muhammad in the Bible, you will find Jesus in the Quran.
The writers of Quran were smart enough to take credibility from many bible accounts to solidify their religion and create a spirituality within it.
Islam is a well formed religion that has woven itself properly into the fabric of mankind. Their festivals, their prayer routines, their dreams for Mecca, their attempts at holiness and for the extremists, their radicalism to kill others and themselves for their faith, are powerful combinations that makes the religion a self-thriving machinery.
The Bible doesn’t recognize the Quran, clearly because the Quran is an aftermath religion created to react to Christianity, years after the ascension of Jesus and the massive expansion of the Christian faith.
As it is with reactionary movements, they lack substance without the object to which they are reacting.
They spend most of their efforts debunking the incarnation, debunking the Godhead of Christ, the gospel of salvation through faith in Christ etc
It doesn’t take long before you know which faith is the true faith and which one is a reaction to the true faith.
3. The tolerance we speak about as elites is often exemplified in Christianity. You don’t hear of Christians killing Muslims today (though it is agreed that the Roman Catholic Church led crusades against Islamic worlds supposing their are fighting for God), what you hear is Muslims killing Christians, stoning us etc
Christians don’t focus on Muhammad or Allah, we focus on the faith in Christ Jesus, same faith we have seen through the scriptures from our father Abraham, while Muslims are angry about that faith and do their best to invalidate it.
Again, one is a reality, the other is a reaction to reality.
If a major church dares put a sign invalidating Muhammad on their billboard, maybe some Christians would have lost their lives this morning but this is happening and nothing will ever happen because the Holy Spirit given to Christians is God’s Spirit of love and forgiveness.
Again, it doesn’t take much study to know the true faith and the other ‘faith’ which is just a reaction to the true ‘faith’.
In any case, Asalam Alekun to everyone in this season of Christmas ❤️🙏
