The Greek words used in the NT for “hear” and “obey” are related. The word for “hear” is akouō and the word for “obey” is hypakouō (literally to be under what you have heard). The implication is clear: In biblical reasoning you have not truly heard God’s word until you obey it.
This is basically the only picture I have with my dad.

I don’t know who needs to hear this but don’t let pride keep you from making amends to relationships you’ve mishandled. Humble yourself, truly apologize, and seek reconciliation. Don’t postpone what you can today. Don’t presume on tomorrow.
True wisdom is submission to God’s word, values, and instructions. “There is a way that appears to be right, but in the end it leads to death.” Proverbs 14:12
True wisdom is thoroughly God-centered. There are all kinds of things that seem right to the natural mind but lead to destruction. It may seem right to repay evil for evil but that kind of thinking makes you hard, bitter, and ultimately evil.
God’s way of mercy and forgiveness may not “feel” good. In reality, it feels like death. But it is a death that leads to resurrection. Trust in the Lord with all your heart and do not lean on your own understanding. (Proverbs 3:5-7)
