Some mornings, I feel my losses so acutely. There’s a dull ache, & generous helpings of “what was” & “what might’ve been.”
Others have had an unwelcome part in the writing of my story. I wish it wasn’t so.
And yet, there is Another who is writing my story. A greater narrative.
I grew up in it.
This preoccupation with everything that’s wrong with TV, fashion, music, and media.
Yes, we need to guard our hearts. We have always needed to.
This also includes guarding them against an over-infatuation with the things we are allegedly guarding them against.
Pastor, today your people need the Law to guide them in Righteousness. Today your people need the Gospel to heal their deep wounds. their souls. Today you need the same. Pray God’s guidance, and deliver the Word; let God be God. Rest in that. It’s enough.
@ThabitiAnyabwil Amen. The great congregation from every tribe, tongue, and nation in its description is absolutely unified in Christ without being homogenized. This is, I think, a greater testimony to sovereign grace than the alternatives.

Words set to music have a profoundly formative effect. Any lyric we hear or sing can yield us either well-formed or malformed. My latest at @CTmagazine https://t.co/ZIxLArVqU2

@tomnmcpherson@SamAllberry As a cancer patient, on chemo for a year now (being carried by grace this whole time), really there’s no one answer. Everyone’s diagnosis, regimen, and journey is different. You have to do what is right for you and your family. I’m still working and preaching because I’m able.
Please pray for those still in harm’s way.
God, our Father and bulwark of strength, May it please you to rescue your servants in present danger. Grant that even in this hour they would be comforted and strengthened by your Spirit and Word.
When speaking of “our part,” he’s spot on. That’s why Romans 1:16 is so precious to me. The gospel, not our clever wording, is the power of God unto salvation. Love Him. Love Them. Leave God’s work to Him. It’s above our pay grade.
@BarnabasPiper @micahfries I think the hardest thing about parenting is keeping from or hiding laughing at times you really shouldn’t. This one seems appropriate, though. At least, unavoidable.
We look to Jesus to forgive us when we fail and we wander. We look to Jesus for strength to get back up. We need Jesus, who will ensure not just that we have a good beginning, but we run the race to completion and have a good ending.
