John Gibbons on carbon tax: It may be unpopular, but we need it to avoid a far more expensive future - the government was wrong to cave in after protests.

JD Vance is lecturing the Pope on Catholicism and Pierre Poilievre is lecturing Mark Carney on economics and RFK Jr is lecturing scientists about vaccines and Donald Trump is lecturing the world on tariffs and Pete Hegseth is quoting Pulp Fiction and thinking it’s the Bible
I can’t stand this abuse to the Gardai
In all honesty, what are they supposed to do?
& if the same ones giving them dogs abuse had PETA or climate activists blockading their farms & premises then they’d expect the Gardai to move them on to let them get on with their business
Lads giving out to the gardai that they pay their wages while shutting the country down and looking for a bailout from the Irish taxpayers is very Irish.
“There’s not a businessman in this country that doesn’t owe the revenue money”
Really Sharon Keogan? I know a lot of business owners who work hard and are tax compliant?
President Trump has posted this picture on social media of himself as Christ healing the sick. I’ve long given up saying how hard it is to think of any previous US president who behaved like Donald Trump, but comparing himself to Jesus puts him on another level altogether.
Another convoy of trucks has gone in to Whitegate Refinery. Safe to say blockade is no more.
And there is the famed army “beast” tow truck.
Despite disinfo online about it - no group of troops deployed. It wasn’t used. The protestors gave their keys to Gardaí. @thejournal_ie
Shame the morons protesting are unable or unwilling to understand this. They are making an already difficult fuel situation (directly caused by Trump) into a disaster. Bannon’s toxic bullshit all over this mess.
For the slow ones (and they are a lot of them)
- Irish taxes on diesel are not particularly high in EU
- No one was protesting about these a month ago
- Trump started a war which spiked prices
- Protests started (funnily only in Ireland)
So the trigger is the problem.
@ciaranmullooly@GovIE You were entirely wrong in your statements -as a professional
Journalist you let the side down. More importantly as a politician you always opt for the extreme on all issues. Ranting & raving which is what you were doing is just plain wrong.
