People really compare dyinġ from poverty to Darwin’s “survival of the fittest.”
Poverty is a social construct driven by wealth hoarding in the post industrial age, not by any natural shortage of resources.
“Dear migrants, before I say any other word to you, I want to bow before your dignity.
“You are not numbers or case files.
“You are people — with a family and a home left behind, with dreams that no one has the right to scorn.” — Pope Leo XIV
BREAKING: "Greater Israel" is now marketed in London. Like in Montreal and in New York.
Apartheid without borders.
P.S. This explains why criticism of Israel is being restricted (and "anti-antisemitism" laws keep appearing). Apartheid is not only a crime. It is a business model.
This week has been a stark reminder that when we sit idly by as the climate crisis escalates, our neighbours' basements fill with sewage, community infrastructure is damaged, tennis bail sized hail falls, and thousands face days-long hydro outages.
While Carney's Liberal government continues to fail to meet the moment, instead choosing to kowtow to corporate billionaires by cutting climate protections - Manitobans are stuck paying for the increasing cost of damage caused by the climate crisis.

The world’s largest human rights organization published a report today on Israel’s ethnic cleansing of Palestinians and there’s barely any media coverage.
How is this not newsworthy?
Twenty-two states, all allies of Canada, express their “profound concern regarding the catastrophic humanitarian situation that persists in Gaza" & condemn moves to thwart the work of humanitarian orgs.
Canada has declined to sign on. Why @AnitaAnandMP?

Before the Pyramids existed, the Indigenous Peoples were using Head-Smashed-In Buffalo Jump to hunt bison.
For 6,000 years, the site was used by the First Nations.
Long before Alberta existed, the Indigenous occupied the land and it remains Treaty Land.

This morning I listened to the @BBC talk about Hezbollah rocket attacks on northern occupied Palestine without once mentioning the hundreds of Israeli attacks we have been subjected to just in the last couple of days, the flattered historical cities, razed villages, massacres of families and almost 3,500 civilians killed.
Israel is committing acts of genocide in Lebanon and the @BBC is spreading propaganda.
Photo was taken a few minutes ago in Marwaniyeh.
The preliminary ruling of the Permanent Peoples’ Tribunal is a sobering reminder that the harms of colonialism are not confined to Canada’s past.
But at a time when international observers are affirming what we’ve known for so long – that genocide is ongoing against Indigenous Peoples across Canada – the Liberal government continues to cut supports for survivors, families and Indigenous communities.
That’s why I wrote to the Prime Minister and Minister of Crown-Indigenous Relations today demanding answers on how the Liberal government will reverse course and end this ongoing genocide.

Tonight, my @NDP Bill C-247 to uphold the right to strike and repeal Section 107 of the Canada Labour Code will be debated in the House of Commons.
I was so proud to join labour leaders from the CLC, CUPW, CUPE, the ILWU and Teamsters Canada Rail Conference today, telling this Liberal government:
Stop with the attacks on workers, uphold the right to strike.
Thank you to @PresidentCLC and @CanadianLabour for your call on the Liberal government to uphold workers’ right to strike and repeal Section 107 of the Canada Labour Code.
My @NDP Bill C-247 will do just that. When debate starts this Wednesday, New Democrats will reiterate workers’ demands:
Stop the attacks on the right to strike, repeal Section 107.
The Liberals’ pipeline is dividing Canada—and causing some Liberal MPs to run for the hills.
And while Carney doubles down on new fossil fuel projects, he’s backsliding on the rights of Indigenous peoples while lining the pockets of the billionaire class, all while communities suffer from global price shocks.
That’s why I and my @NDP colleague @GordJohns wrote to the Liberal Environment Minister to make clear: we will not accept the Prime Minister’s failure to address the climate crisis and protect all those endangered by it.

📌 Dr. Hussam Abu Safiya, director of Kamal Adwan Hospital in northern Gaza, has now spent 320 days in Israeli detention after being seized during the army’s raid on the hospital last December. His family notes he is being unjustly held, and rights groups report he’s been denied medical care and subjected to brutal treatment inside Israeli custody.
They Said The Massacres Would Stop When The Hostages Were Released. They Haven’t Stopped.
On Friday Israel reportedly blew up a vehicle carrying a Palestinian family of eleven people, including seven children.
