Christ redeemed us from the curse of the law by becoming a curse for us—for it is written, “Cursed is everyone who is hanged on a tree” — Galatians 3:13
Those who look to idols become like them (Psa 135:15-18).
Those who look to the Lord are radiant (Psa 34:5).
You will become like whatever you fix your gaze upon.
@farmingandJesus Grace is no longer grace if I can lose or earn a right standing. Yes, we must confess and continue in repentance. However, salvation is ultimately dependent on God’s grace, not my performance.
@GayRepublicSwag God is holy meaning He is separate from sin. Paul is very clear to the church of Corinth. Some were homosexual prior to believing in Christ. Christ changes the affections of the heart.
@graceforprize@Toneskeee Rom 3:21, Gal 3:12, Rom 1:17, and 1 Jn 2:1 speak to how sinners are justified by faith—not how Christ was righteous. Jesus did not need faith to be righteous; He was born under the Law (Gal 4:4) and fulfilled it by perfect obedience (Matt 5:17; Rom 5:19). Category error.
@graceforprize@Toneskeee “Do not think that I have come to abolish the Law or the Prophets; I have not come to abolish them but to fulfill them.
— Matthew 5:17
Annialationalism diminishes the urgency to preach the gospel, the weightiness of eternity, and the suffering of the Son of God. When Jesus cried “I thirst”, He was suffering conscious torment, not non-existent.
@Protestia And he cried out and said, ‘Father Abraham, have mercy on me, and send Lazarus so that he may dip the tip of his finger in water and cool off my tongue, for I am in agony in this flame.’
— Luke 16:24
@Toneskeee Does fallen man, in and of himself, have a natural desire for Jesus Christ?
If yes, then man is free. If not, then he’s in bondage to sin and needs grace.
The will operates according to the desires of the heart. We’re not forced against our will, we are given a new nature.
