@maria_drutska The country that has watched wrestling for 40-50 years is ready to believe that an agent that mitigates thirst is the same as watering the crops.
@AdrianP_doc Yeah, but there is also this thing that the Americans practically forced Croats and Bosniaks to stop fighting each other and to consolidate their efforts. They especially put pressure on Croatian leadership.
Without that, Serbs would have won hands down.
@polidemitolog To think of all that they are throwing at Ukraine is mind-blowing.
Also, it takes inefficient use of gargantuan proportions to use all that and still advance in literally snail pace.
@polidemitolog You all attribute too little to biology of humans and too much to superficial manifestations such as professed beliefs, superstitions, political affinities etc.
Left unattended, some people will become genocidal murderers. Which ideology will serve as pretext is secondary.
@polidemitolog Oddly enough, in my family we were saying "...nego da zvijeri zametnu tragove", meaning that the guilty will always find a way out with impunity due to a tailwind. Mana from heaven is coming to aid the sinners in our lore.
@PeterSaker2@BrankoMilan You are certainly referring to years long campaign of negating Panamas independence and cannonade that flattened a couple of their cities along with the inhabitants. We all remember the time when Solovyov worked for ABC and barked that Panama needs to be eradicated.
@zenosterner@polidemitolog The provenance of a fact does not negate it. Also, the past inclinations of the speaker (the utterer of a statement) are not a counterargument.
Ever since before his first term, Trump was consistently on the trajectory into this worldview of dividing world between "powers".
@SariArhoHavren@RUSI_org I would love to clarify if "all but neutral" should be taken to mean "almost completely neutral, virtually there" or "anything but neutral, i.e. not neutral at all"
@DarkoLesinger Jednom davno sam vozio nekoga u Sisak i pokaže mi čovjek novu kuću nekog susjeda. Kaže mi čovjek: "Dok nije bio ministar bila je višestruko manja."
No, dobro.
To samo pokazuje da su svi ljudi pokvarljivi i da HDZ nema monopol. Jeste da su najveći, ali nisu jedini.
@jaddeyekabir@polidemitolog Temperaments, folklore, societies, socioeconomic circumstances decide how to interpret their religion.
Famously, some Muslim countries allow divorce, others don't. Some are peaceful, some are not.
Qualities attributed to Islam are also what societies want their Islam to be.
@polidemitolog This doesn't necessarily need to include words that pigeonhole groups coalesced around any single hobby/belief/creed/religion. It is sufficient to say that such legislation covers people gathered to do harm, be it because they share a hobby or just happen to know each other.
@ZelDi69 Najmanje trećina konkluzija mu nemaju temelja u navedenim ili podrazumijevanim premisama.
Ovakva sugestivna somnabulija podsjeća na autore tipa Nenad Bakić, materijal iz kojeg nekritički čitatelj ostane dezinformiran.
On the Fedorov situation, I'm willing to say the quiet part out loud.
Politics in Eastern Europe operates on three levels: one for the insiders and their interests, one for the domestic public, and one as a facade for the West. The insiders may hold formal office, but they can just as easily remain behind the scenes, pulling the strings.
The two outer layers are largely performative. The domestic one is tailored to macho Eastern European sensibilities; the external one is designed to tick the boxes of Western socio-political sensibilities.
The feminist girl boss, the modern tech bro, the sweet-talking young minister with UwU stickers on her laptop, these are some of the personalities branded and marketed specifically for Western analysts and the decision-makers they influence.
As long as everyone plays the part assigned to them, they come and go, trade offices, and keep the show running. But when one of the actors decides he has outgrown his role and can claim a place among the insiders, sparks fly, coalitions unravel, and early elections are called.
Just watch how the transition is handled, and you'll understand whether the game is stable or whether new players are emerging. The game itself, however, stays the same. Oh, and try not to fall in love with the actors.
@SergKoloskov@polidemitolog I must admit that I feel utterly stupid for not recognising that this is the way.
I, too, succumbed to their grandstanding.
