Yes there are 10 other cities lined up for this Rays deal that Romano has trashed in multiple columns! Sadly for these suitors it’s unlikely to happen.
Rays CEO @kenbabby told us weeks ago negotiations are going well behind the scenes.
City Council Chair @aclendenin told us something similar.
The final documents are being agreed to and the two swing votes on the City council, Maniscalco and Carlson are getting their objections heard and worked out to get yes votes. The county votes should be there as well. The delayed CRA vote was expected and a positive development.
There is so much misinformation out there because Orlando, RDU, Charlotte, Nashville all undertaking social media campaigns and PR planted stories to try and tank this deal.
But The political leaders who are voting are seeing what a tremendous opportunity this is for Tampa Bay and why these other cities are so desperate to steal it away.
It’s getting done in Tampa. First concrete step was the $50 Million allocated from the state. The next move is to find a construction partner. That process started today. The negative comments are mostly uninformed meaningless chatter.
Over the last seven and a half years, Florida has set the national standard for conservative governance, while breaking record after record in economic strength, education, and environmental stewardship. We’ve delivered billions in tax relief to families while making historic investments in the priorities that matter most to Floridians.
The FY 2026-2027 Budget I signed today reflects the core priorities I laid out from the beginning. This budget protects taxpayers’ interests, cuts spending for the fourth year in a row, and makes meaningful investments to build on Florida’s successes in education, public safety, environmental conservation, infrastructure, cancer research, and more.
I’m proud that Florida continues to serve as the prime example of fiscal responsibility and government that works for the people of our state.
Thrilled to see my friend @Sonderling47 nominated as Labor Secretary. He’s been doing an amazing job in leading @USDOL and efforts of @POTUS to advance our workforce in all phases. Congratulations! 🇺🇸
America has led the world in liberty and prosperity for 250 years.
Today, civic pride is in decline, and knowledge of our founding principles is even LOWER.
My @dcexaminer op-ed makes the case for why civics education must be restored in EVERY classroom across America.
Thank you @GovRonDeSantis for continuing to prioritize Florida students through record per-student funding of more than $9,300.
With more than $30 billion in funding for K-12 education, the Fiscal Year 2026-2027 Budget builds on years of progress and reaffirms our commitment to student achievement and school safety.
This historic investment will ensure Florida’s education system continues to lead the nation.
As you walk around our nation’s capital, the changes are noticeable and the city is being brought back to life thanks to the hard work of @POTUS, @SecretaryBurgum, and the AMERICAN WORKERS who are #MakingDCBeautifulAgain! 🇺🇸
