Calling all creators! We made https://t.co/DWQUnwH3Bg to help everyone understand patent law - with panda comics! - and connect inventors with free legal support. Know your rights so you can be free to innovate! https://t.co/0M9weMyM1G #patentpandas
We are honored to receive an @ArsElectronica STARTS Prize 2019 Nomination! Much <3 to the lawyers out there who are volunteering their efforts to help inventors and artists! https://t.co/zlvCZsmYxI @medialab@BKCHarvard@qijie@mayqi6@jamesira
Gleich auf zwei ihrer Elektronikprojekte wurden Patente angemeldet – mit @Patentpandas will Erfinderin @qijie jetzt Hilfestellung geben. https://t.co/RlSCIFtUsR
"Even if something starts within the warm and fuzzy nest of open source, it may not stay there." @make delves into the whys and wherefores of alum @qijie's @Patentpandas project. https://t.co/hvOYXRjsiT
Hey Makers! Do you have a story where you wanted to share something openly just to find that someone else patented it (like https://t.co/h0qx5avTQu)? Please DM! By working together, we can keep our work free and open for everyone to enjoy! @make@makerfaire
TIL patent law is super important & some people / big companies (COUGH Google) run roughshod over other people & their original work. @qijie had it happen to her (https://t.co/3tdr3OKgdP …), then launched an awesome site called Patent Pandas to change things - check it out!
Holy wow indeed! Worth reading the original story about a humble bikini... And truly, perhaps there is hope for truth and fairness in the end (at least it's worth fighting for :) 👙🐼@Patentpandas
Have you heard of @Patentpandas yet? A new tool from @qijie and others for for everyday inventors explaining how the patent system works. https://t.co/vyxlQK8iJ7
@MauiMescudi @Jennifer_Dick @Patentpandas There's also a great new project the Prior Art Archive created by @medialab, @Cisco and @uspto that lets people submit non-patent prior art that examiners will see: https://t.co/pI42bNMdB9
@MauiMescudi @Jennifer_Dick @Patentpandas It's true that you can patent and open license. However, I don't have the resources (patents cost easily $10,000 or more each) to patent everything I create so I opt to publish in other ways to make prior art. For about this on @Patentpandas: https://t.co/WO9ckigBHo
"You can’t opt-out of patents. Simply being open is unfortunately not good enough to prevent trolls from patent-spamming your inventions." From @bunniestudios https://t.co/v9PMQl2Gia
@danielnazer@qijie@bunniestudios We hope that by sharing these stories, and those of other inventors, we'll help creators understand the patent system better and avoid such heartaches. Or at least know where to find legal support if it does happen!
The patent adventures of @qijie who has now had two companies try to patent her work ... first, a crowdsourcing backer got an (invalid) patent on her and
@bunniestudios's LED stickers https://t.co/iil6ZBiybp
I'm so excited for this! congrats @qijie and thank you for investing so much time into this project. Anyone who makes stuff should tune in and learn about how your inventions interact with patent law. Just because you do open source doesn't mean you are protected from patent law!
