High electricity bills, chronic blackouts, and connection delays must end! Hajjat Hadijah Namyalo Uzeiye challenges UEDCL to deliver transparency and accountability, asserting that uninterrupted and affordable power is non-negotiable for Uganda’s socio-economic transformation. 🇺🇬💡 #ONCUpdates

Hajjat @ChiefMuzzukulu has called out @UEDCLTD
"We jumped from UMEME frying pan into UEDCL fire.
Power off daily. Transformers blowing. Businesses dying. And more 400,000 Ugandans waiting to be connected for months.
You took over everything - cars, staff, buildings - but you can't keep the lights on?
Ugandans don't need excuses about "ageing infrastructure", we need power.
You pay your Yaka bill on time.
You buy expensive appliances.
You have a small business to run.
But UEDCL decides when you get power.
4,487 hours of blackouts in less than a year. 20 hours to fix a fault. This is not service, this is punishment."

Our children study under kerosene because poles are erected but meters are not installed.
How will Uganda compete when our students read in darkness while we export 254M units to Kenya?
Light must be on for education.

*Namyalo Demands Answers Over Electricity Costs, Blackouts and UEDCL Performance*
Hajjat Hadijah Namyalo Uzeiye, Manager of the Office of the National Chairman (ONC), has called for accountability in Uganda's electricity sector following the shift from Umeme to UEDCL.
Speaking as a Muzukulu, Namyalo questioned why Ugandans still face blackouts and high power costs despite heavy investment in Karuma and Isimba dams.
She challenged UEDCL's reported UGX 1.71 trillion in collections and 236,000 new connections, asking why some paying customers remain unconnected. She demanded an independent audit of the funds and outstanding connections.
She also raised concern over former Umeme staff remaining in the system, and questioned why electricity is exported while locals suffer unreliable supply.
Namyalo urged government to investigate, improve oversight, and ensure Ugandans get affordable, reliable power.
