@MativoMJohn@kiplangat_proff Will the feedback of all those who attended interviews be given? PE interviews conducted a year ago yet feedback whether recommended for registration by the board or not have never been given
A contractor wins a project with the lowest bid.
6 months later…
He’s on track to make more money than the highest bidder.
No upgrades.
No extra work.
No variations.
So where is the money coming from?
Here's how the sharp boys of the construction industry move.
A thread 🧵
"Why should we hire you over other candidates?"
This question makes a lot of people panic because it feels like bragging.
Most candidates fall into the same trap:
- "I’m a hard worker"
- "I’m a team player"
- "I’m passionate"
These lines are too generic. They don’t set you apart. If you want to stand out, use this simple 3-part structure:
1) Match their needs. Show that you understand exactly what they’re looking for:
"Based on our conversation, you need someone who can ________. In my previous role, I managed to ________"
2. Highlight your unique value. Explain what you bring that’s different:
"What sets me apart is my combination of ________ and ________. Not many candidates have experience with both"
3. Show genuine interest. Companies love candidates who want to be there:
"I’ve researched your company and I’m excited about ________. It aligns perfectly with my goals and I’m ready to contribute from day one"
Sample Answer:
"You mentioned you need someone who can manage multiple projects under tight deadlines. In my last role, I handled five concurrent projects and delivered all of them on time, even when we lost a team member mid-way.
What makes me different is my mix of technical skills and client-facing experience. I can execute the work and communicate effectively with stakeholders.
I’ve been following your company’s expansion into Southeast Asia and I’m excited about being part of that growth. I’m ready to hit the ground running"
What NOT to do:
❌ "I really need this job"
❌ Compare yourself to other candidates
❌ Give vague responses
❌ Be overly humble or overly cocky
Be confident. Be specific. Be memorable. #IkoKaziKE
Saving construction costs requires careful planning, smart material choices, and efficient construction techniques.
Short Thread.
Here are some practical ways to cut costs without compromising quality:
1. Proper Planning and Budgeting
Cheat sheet on development timelines (assuming a ~$60M multifamily residential project):
The best way is to use this as a baseline from which you can push/pull to dial in overall schedule.
This is how I approach construction contract negotiation.
While many people think that negotiating is always contentious, I see it as a very good way to understand how a new business partner thinks and as a great opportunity to strengthen the relationship (this is universally applicable).
These are some of the tactics I use to get the most positive outcome from a negotiation:

Last week, a client engaged me due to his fear for a potential collapse, to supervise the election of his

Several factors, from height of the wall, type of soil, load the wall needs to support, and aesthetic considerations are not to be ignored.
