@LeslyRamir70514 @Songling_Chen I think it’s both important and necessary for there to be diversity due to the fact that the athletes are also diverse. Representation matters. #ucr50@Songling_Chen
#ucr50@Songling_Chen College colleges are some of the highest paid public workers in a majority of the states in the U.S. I found this interesting because some of that pay can go to the college athletes, who are making these coaches look good.
@LeslyRamir70514 @Songling_Chen#ucr50@Songling_Chen I agree with you on this. I think it’s important for them to have full support and encouragement in their academics just like they have in their sport.

It a bit frustrating to see how student athletes are being used by the university they attend. They are valued due to the funding and money they bring to the institution. These institutions are prioritizing athletic performance over academic performance.
The NCAA uses the talent of college athletes for personal gain. Those athletes deserve to make profit off of their OWN names because they’re the ones putting in work. @edavidsonhed #ucr50
@kaorenae @edavidsonhed I think social media managing is important only so that the college athletes are thinking twice before they post something for Image sake @edavidsonhed #ucr50
@moanapisia8 @edavidsonhed Hi Moana! I agree, it’s very beneficial to all college students. Title IX is also supposed to educate and fight to end sexual violence on campus. @edavidsonhed #ucr50
@nfern019 @edavidsonhed I think discrimination will end when/if we change our minders, which is almost impossible for most people. Having something like Title IX is so important for college students.#ucr50 @edavidsonhed
Title IX gives everyone the chance to participate in any education program or activity(sports included). It also sexual violence, retaliation, & more. #ucr50 @edavidsonhed
@zayzayiscrazy @edavidsonhed Hi Isaiah! You’re absolutely right. There’s so much work to be done in order for there to be true equity and equality in intercollegiate sports.#ucr50 @edavidsonhed
@Sandrabthegreat @edavidsonhed Hi Sandra, I agree with your statement. However, I find this to be true in just about every sport. I feel like seeing more representation will allow for a more diverse group to pursue those sports #ucr50 @edavidsonhed
I think there needs to be a better representation of diversity in administration and not just in the student population. It helps to see a faculty/staff member that physically resembles you. #ucr50 @edavidsonhed
@kaorenae @edavidsonhed I think no matter a students reason for attending an institution, the requirements should be the same. I think many student athletes forget that their academics are just as important as their sports.#ucr50
@moanapisia8 @edavidsonhed Hi Moana!
What do you think would be helpful tips to encourage them to be more supportive of student athletes? #ucr50 @edavidsonhed
College student-athletes are often victim to the "dumb jock" stereotype, which assumes that they’re less competent academically than athletically. I think administration is to blame. #ucr50 @edavidsonhed
@melanicadena1 @edavidsonhed Hello Melani! There definitely needs to be a change in the way student athletes are treated in regards to their mental health. Like what needs to happen in order for that change to happen? Mental health is so crucial, no matter what one’s profession is.
@tenzchoeying @edavidsonhed Hi Tenzin! I agree, it should be mandatory for student athletes to automatically have resources provided to them because balancing sports and education can be quite stressful. #ucr50 @edavidsonhed
It’s important for colleges to pay more attention to the mental health of their students, athletes included. There should be a push for the athletics department to take the initiative to provide resources for student athletes. https://t.co/kTz73tTwE9
