Waited 2 months in my new role as a clinical analyst to be able very confidently post this
pivoting out of academia was the best decision I could have made for my myself and my career long-term
And..
But now that I have moved on I have a greater grasp on how unsustainable & taxing the research/academic sector is
It’s a sad thing to learn, I feel so fulfilled in my new path, but do hope the sector improves for the many brilliant people in the sector doing great things
this is not discrediting how much I was able to develop myself professionally in academia over the past several years and my fabulous past research group/colleagues/projects..
Happy International Women's Day to all the incredible women in our research group and beyond! Your dedication, passion, and hard work inspire us every day. #InternationalWomensDay2024#womeninSTEM
I don't know how I got so far in life when my daily (largely unmet) goals are still: drink more water, charge your phone before going out & please dont forget bin day again.
Thank you @TransResearchAU @SavZwickl Eli Ward-Smith for the highlight of our important work together, this study is a joy to run day-to-day and will no doubt lead to great things!

Fascinating study.
What's particularly interesting is a finding that the authors don't really discuss in their conclusion. These results appear to show that gender affirming care is associated with a reduction in suicide risk 1/n
@GidMK Great thread. Agree conclusions are misleading. I note for the gender-referred group only 38.2% had proceeded with hormones- you cant confidently make conclusions on the impact of hormone therapies from this group. As you said-the stratified analyses by use are most insightful
