Making myself unpopular on neighbourhood WhatsApp group where they are enthusiastically gathering up old clothes by urging people to give #CashNotStuff 😬
Please give your things to local charity shops who can use them to raise money for charity

Almost five years ago, the Taliban announced that girls’ schools and universities would remain closed until further notice, and that no one was even allowed to question the decision.
Today, the Taliban announced the university entrance exam results. For the fourth consecutive year, not a single girl was allowed to take the exam.
To the world that constantly speaks about human rights—where are you? How much longer will this injustice continue?
Is the United Nations only there to issue statements and hold symbolic meetings? Where is the action?
@FoundationsHIA What a shame, it was clear non of the designers had any experience either of sight loss themselves or of guiding a family member. The bricks used for containers were very hard with sharp edges & with the irregular shape they would be hazardous to anyone with limited or no vision
@BBCWorld Not an impossible choice, who in .@BBCWorld decided men selling girls into slavery ( for obvious purposes) was anything other than abhorrent? The only choice these men made was to be evil.
@forwardnotback So sorry to read this, like many I enjoyed cafe reviews & found the telling of your cancer treatment journey informative. As a traditional but dis-illusioned Labour voter I’ve often wished you had a more prominent & influential position in the party as your decency is evident
@amandacomms Well said Amanda, many of us who work or have worked in crisis mgmt are driven by a desire to help. We want to continue to provide service to customers & protect jobs. Crisis mgmt to protect those that have deliberately harmed women & children goes against those principles
@ForceOfSkillMTG@wmarybeard I agree both are essential and very important to have non-fiction in book form so ideas have sufficient room to be developed
@ForceOfSkillMTG@wmarybeard The intention might be different but in my view reading fiction is essential sometimes as ‘exercise’ for your brain, sometimes as pure entertainment but also to give a way to explore other perspectives. And I say that as someone who accidentally mostly read non-fiction last yr
Message from inside Iran:
Please help us. The situation here is horrific. It is a full scale war. The regime’s forces show no mercy. They shoot protesters in the head and heart and even finish off those already wounded on the streets. In hospitals the wounded are being kidnapped and killed.
Masih please tell the world we need help 💔

The time has come for Europe to expel the officials of the Islamic Republic of Iran and shut down its embassies.
Watch the heartbreaking images of mass killings in Iran.
This regime does not practice diplomacy. Its method of negotiation with its own people is guns and bullets fired at unarmed civilians. A government that wages war on its population forfeits any right to diplomatic privilege on European soil.
Allowing Iranian regime officials to operate freely in European capitals only legitimizes repression and terror.
Europe, be brave and stand up to this regime and help us the people if Iran tear down the wall of dictatorship built by @khamenei_ir!
@LucyGoBag Whilst it probably should have been caught by the funeral director most will not come across bodies in these conditions. It feels like a situation where the coroners and police should provide advice on handling the body and effects to funeral directors.
@alexhrbfc@KirstieMAllsopp As Kirstie is very well aware what many parents are paying for when they pay private school fees is not so much the education as ensuring their children are continually told they are the elite, mix with the ‘right’ sort of people & benefit from those connections all their life
@yourmaitreD@KirstieMAllsopp If they could stretch themselves to pay fees pre vat they could send their children to a state school and use some of what they spent on fees to financially contribute to that school for resources that benefit all pupils
@KirstieMAllsopp You are a hypocrite, that tax can be used for state education, you said yourself we can’t afford everything and we definitely can’t afford to subsidise the children of higher earners to get a better education at the expense of less privileged children.
@RosaP_LA@jan_murray I can see connecting rooms are handy for families but they shouldn’t be given to women unless we request one. I was always in the habit of checking they are locked, now I request another room.
