@ChrisChanSD I didn’t get a chance to ride the Shinkansen, but I did see it! And thanks to Google Maps the trains were actually super easy to navigate! It helped that I could read the hiragana, but even without knowing kanji it’s much more streamlined now

But that doesn’t mean we should give up! I’m holding onto hope for good, expansive public transportation one day. A lot needs to change for that to happen.

Ultimately I think even if we wanted to, San Diego couldn’t have a train system like Tokyo for many reasons. One of the biggest is we built more sprawled & less vertical than Tokyo. So it’s much harder to make sure every part of town is within walking distance of a station.
