I’ve spent 15 years reporting on California elections. I know well the problems with elections administration here.
If you see people screaming “fraud,” it’s safe to say they’re full of shit.
Documented cases of elections fraud in CA are extremely rare.

As of Wednesday's 5 PM governor results update, San Jose Mayor @MattMahanSJ failed to win a majority of the precincts in his own backyard of Santa Clara County, including his home city of San Jose.
One precinct did go his way. It only counted one voter.
JUST IN: Saikat Chakrabarti has conceded the race. It will be Connie Chan vs. Scott Wiener in the contest to replace Nancy Pelosi.
“I want to congratulate Sen. Scott Wiener & Supervisor Connie Chan on their victories & thank everyone who participated in this election."
CONNIE CHAN besting SAIKAT CHAKRABARTI in initial San Francisco congressional results.
Chan is at 28.1% and Chakrabarti has half at 13.5%. SCOTT WIENER, as expected, is over 40%.
Chan has a commanding lead over Chakrabarti.

"I'm pretty sure tonight is not going to go well ... any surprises tonight to the upside would be a welcome relief," a software engineer who lives in the Rosemary Park told me.
I'm here at @MattMahanSJ 's election night party to see the early results of his bid for California Governor. Stay tuned for updates throughout the night and a story to come @SJSpotlight.
She’s not on here much anymore but @alexpiscatelli has been doing great work with her new project. I’ve been helping her edit these episodes and we can’t wait to put more out there.
Thanks to my former coworker and Bay Area legend @StanleyRoberts for coming on the show!!!
On Mother's Day 2026, I embarked on a little adventure to @RasputinRecords in Campbell, CA, where I joined a podcast diving deep into the fascinating intersection of grief and media. 🎙️✨ It was an eye-opening experience filled with heartfelt stories and unexpected laughs!
Here’s a sneak peek of some outtakes that capture the essence of our conversation—raw, real, and maybe a little quirky! Stay tuned; I’ll be sharing the full link shortly, and you won’t want to miss it! 🎧💔📽️
NEW: Matt Mahan’s floundering campaign for California governor has been hit with a new bombshell complaint accusing the San Jose mayor of illegally coordinating on polling with a billionaire-funded PAC.
Both paid the polling firm $89K+
Political experts told me that Mahan’s use of the same polling firm as the pro-Mahan committee was unprecedented, “sloppy” and “unseemly.”

I think journalists need to have a norm against screencapping other people’s reporting with no link in tweet and/or tag to author / outlet. Seeing big accounts go viral for posts that clearly present others’ work as their own
As San Jose Mayor Matt Mahan has campaigned for governor the last 3.5 months, the mayor has missed more than a third of City Council meetings, a Bay Area News Group analysis found. He's also been absent from every MTC meeting & all but one VTA meeting.

While @TomSteyer has spent eye-popping amounts of his own money, big companies including @PGE4Me are opening their wallets to oppose him. Why? @GuyMarzorati looks into it
