I’ve been testing the Comma 4 from @comma_ai since it has a 360 degree camera & I’m one of the primary progenitors & inventors of the type of 360 degree video which underpins @Tesla’s Autopilot & Full Self-Driving technologies, and I have to say I’m thoroughly impressed by it. 🤯

After successfully & legally modifying an 8 year old @honda Accord Hybrid for Level 2 Autonomous Driving using a @comma_ai 4 ADAS - which like @tesla Autopilot & FSD utilizes 360 Degree Video technologies which I originally started developing over 19 years ago in order to function - I drove it on a 5000+ mile journey cross-country with my cats by my side to retrieve my @autohome overlanding pop-up hardshell rooftop tent that I had stored in the PNW - which cost about $10K USD new. The Comma 4’s Level 2 Autonomous Driving produced a nearly perfect driving safety score, according to the State Farm app. I wasn’t planning on attending @burningman 2026 this year, but in the off-chance I show up last-minute then this will be my camping setup - as per usual. I had @Rerackdotcom perform the professional aftermarket roof track installation to safely mount my aerodynamic 150 pound fiberglass RTT to the top of the Accord Hybrid. The Comma 4 appears to function more reliably if you manually reboot it before each drive, which I personally would suggest doing for reasons of safety. If more people knew about autonomous Advanced Driver Assistance Systems, then it would likely cut into Tesla’s profit margins..

I flew the @Antigravity_HQ A1 over downtown Chattanooga, then uploaded the 360° footage to @NianticSpatial Scaniverse.

A few hours later, I was exploring a massive 3D Gaussian splat on Apple Vision Pro.

Thanks for letting know. I pointed this out to .@Apple last November, I’m surprised they haven’t updated visionOS 26 with spatial monitor functionality yet. This is especially important since both .@Samsung and .@Sony are releasing glasses-free spatial computer monitors such as the Odyssey 3D. Please fix .@AppleSupport, and feel free to contact me if you need assistance engineering this .@tim_cook.

The Panoramas app now lets you upload your own panos! Thanks, Apple team, for letting us use our own photos as environments. My favorite ones to use are from the Apple Store.
