@NickTimiraos It is for our own benefit. it’s avoiding a shock. Aug 2024: a surprise BOJ hike spiked the yen and crashed US stocks overnight. Managed strengthening now avoids a disorderly one later, keeps Japan (top Treasury buyer) from panic-selling, and eases pressure on US manufacturers.
@johnarnold Curious how many of those 15 in the drive thru are mothers with one or more kids in the car. Think I’d rather wait if the kid is content in the car seat.
@piersmorgan@realDonaldTrump That might be the point… make everyone think he’s gone mad in another attempt to scare them into a deal. It seems like he has been consistent with this strategy. Seems obvious. Concerning that media’s talking heads don’t see it.
@EmilyEmyyy855@sentdefender We are talking about the number of days worth of oil on these ships. There is a finite amount of oil. 10-14 days is a calculation based on consumption.
@RodDMartin Wrong. We put the shah in power. He was a human rights abuser so the middle eastern powers that be (in this case they were in Lebanon) replaced him with someone they felt they could control. The US had no business meddling. Read Black Wave by @KimGhattas
@macrurdn@BBCWorld Thanks for the response. Wish we had $2 cups near me. To clarify - when I say maintain margin I meant to keep the same profit per unit. Better put - how much needs to be passed along to the customer to cover the exact cost increase of the item that is being impacted by tariffs?
@RandPaul This fear from our citizens is playing a role and giving it credibility, which is exactly what Trumps wants. He wants the Arab states to think he is serious.
@RandPaul Step back and think that (a) Trump has always wanted US out of the ME, (b) the Arab states in the ME would absolutely hate for the US to take Gaza, and (c) this is how he negotiates, I believe he’s trying to force Arab states to handle Gaza out of fear the US will do it.
