EXCL: A gay man in Qatar reveals he was lured to a hotel room through a dating app, and when he arrived Qatari officials were there waiting for him. They raped him one by one, arrested him and deported him. And he’s not alone. LGBT people are being hunted. https://t.co/r7o4xasZrI

2/ Being a great journalist wasn’t enough for her - she wanted to help and protect people. Yet no one had ever stopped to wonder why. It was an extraordinary moment when she finally blurted out what happened. One I’ll never forget. May Esther rest in peace.
Here is that moment:

I want to pay tribute to Esther Rantzen. 15 yrs ago I went into the offices of Childline to interview her. There she revealed for the first time that she had been sexually abused.

Her courage and determination helped millions of children being abused. She was the best of us. 1/

@iHeartRadio @katekateholland 4/ As some will know, I've spent 15 years reporting on conversion therapy, going undercover to expose it in Britain, getting the first therapist struck off for practicing it, and campaigning to get it banned - but this series has almost everything you need to know in one place:

🚨 A staggering podcast series begins today, telling the story of the conversion therapy movement through the former head of the gay "cure" industry.

'Atonement: The John Paulk Story' (which I worked on as a consultant), is the wild tale of the man who led Exodus International:

3/ The series begins today and each week a new episode is released. It's available on the @iHeartRadio app, Apple Podcasts, Spotify, Amazon Music or wherever you get your podcasts.

It was made by the incredible @katekateholland.

This series will change - and save - lives.

Also: here’s to everyone going through cancer treatment and their loved ones and carers. This time of year is wildly incongruent to managing the horrors and fears of it all.

EXCL: Scammers stole the identity of a real doctor in Gaza to make money - exploiting public sympathy by crowdfunding and promoting it across social media.

I tracked down the real doctor who reported it to Instagram - but it wasn't taken down.

@DrHarara Dear Dr Harara, I’m a British journalist and sent you a direct message - I’m hoping to talk with you; it’s important. Please let me know if we can talk.

Love this!

But like the Reform leader, once the tape starts rolling, he certainly knows how to punch (verbally)."

@GrahamSmith_ Interesting points - I need to think about them. Democratic principles in charities rather than strictly pressure groups are somewhat unusual are they not? In terms of involvement, I think we're now in a position when the community needs to rally in numerous, creative ways.

Our biggest LGBT charity is in crisis. Are we just going to let it collapse?

A piece by me about the future for Stonewall, which risks annoying everyone, but the stakes are too high to be coy about any of this.
