@kailynschofield So you’d rather the Mets keep a declining player for the next 5 years? By the time the Mets are ready to contend again he will be 35 and owed a lot of money.
@teagiselle The Mets won’t likely be competitive again for a few years. At that point he’s in his mid 30s, in decline, and still owed a lot of years and money. His contract makes sense on a win now team, not a team a few years from contention. Mets should be listening to offers.
@nickythegood@DigginHoles_ Lmao, guess you haven’t been watching this team since June of last year. Do you think this team will magically start winning.
@nickythegood@DigginHoles_ “Team needs to win now”? Huh. They will be lucky to not lose 100 games. This is not a win now team. This team is a few years off from contention, that is with a quick retool / rebuild.
@nickythegood You can’t be serious? There’s no scenario in which they are competitive next year. They need to rebuild. No way they are competitive in 2027 or 28.
@MetsHomeRunGuy Especially with the possibility of a salary cap. I doubt that would happen but if it did, Lindor’s contract becomes even worse. Can’t take that risk.
@F_Piombo89 Yeah let’s keep Lindor. He will be 35, declining, and be paid 30 plus million a year once the Mets are ready to contend again at the earliest.
@Cameron_met@Mikey92D@nypostsports So it has nothing to do with declining with age? Sure. Mets need to move his contract ASAP. He will be 35 when this team is possibly ready to contend again, it’s time.
@TheMetsX Exactly, it makes sense to trade Lindor, he will likely be 35 years old by the time the team is in contention again and the contract will be a bad one. Time to move on and accelerate the rebuild process.
@Hustlediva1@SNY_Mets@SNYtv@chelsea_janes Boss “You’ve been the worst performer at your job the past two years, and haven’t come close to hitting quota, while this would normally be grounds for termination or corrective action, we’re actually going to commit to you for another few years”
@lfgmetsny120 By the time the Mets are competitive again (2028 at the earliest), he will be 34 in decline and have a hefty salary through 2031. It’s a no brainer to try to maximize the return now and clear the salary for the future.
@metsstan1996 The Mets NEED to get his salary off the books. This season and likely next are over. He will be 34 and declining in 2028 owed 34 million a year til 2031. Let someone else pay him the last 4 years of that contract.
@F_Piombo89 This season and possibly next season are done. He will be 34 in 2028, time to dump that contract as he will likely be in decline years. The Mets got the better half of the contract but it’s time to move on.
