At 18 years old in 1961, TK Muya read a magazine article that changed everything.
It said the biggest banks in the world were started by individuals. He decided that day he would start a bank.
23 years later, he started a building society. 23 more years later, he converted it into a commercial bank.
And today, 19 years after that, Family Bank rang the bell at the Nairobi Securities Exchange.
My @AJHeadtoHead interview with Kenya's parliamentary Majority Leader Kimani Ichung'wah has gone viral in Kenya & beyond, & grabbed a lot of headlines.
I pushed him on his defense of unpopular President William Ruto, corruption, police violence, and more:
In 2017, they would check me in a hotel.
I would play along.
And not step into the hotel room.
To those wonderful friends, family and strangers that found ways of moving me around
And giving me safe places of refuge
I am forever grateful and love you to pieces ❤️
