Peter Obi said many times, no country stands a chance of progressing without good investment in their educational system. Our educational institutions and the entire system has been neglected for many decades now. When Nigeria got her independence, a system of education was introduced to suit the needs of the society at that particular time. At that time, Nigeria needs many graduates with certificates that will work in many offices, in different departments and ministries. Since the mid 2000’s, creation of employment opportunities has become a problem for our government, our system of education is no longer beneficial to students or to the nation, yet the government has refused to reform our educational system. Our system is still based on certification and not actually equipping students with required knowledge and skills that will enable them kickstart their respective careers. @General_Oluchi rightly points out that our educational system, its focus, priorities and ways of teaching is useless, that it fails to teach students to know basic units of measurements like km, miles , meters etc. The irony of the situation is most students can recite the units of measurement but when you direct them to take a turn after 200ft , you discover that what they know is only the recitation of these units. Our educational system can be described with two words, “theory and certification”. Until we get our educational system right, the government will continually fail to cut down the rate of unemployment in Nigeria.
They increased school fees, made students take loans just to get through university, and then turn around after graduation to tell them to fry akara and kuli-kuli. How is someone supposed to pay back their student loan, build a house, raise a family, buy a car, take a vacation, and invest in their own growth, all while trying to compete with their peers across the world by frying akara and kuli kuli?

In 2015, while campaigning against GEJ, Dipo, an APC stakeholder asked Nigerians to start saying no to N50k jobs.
But today, 2026 just 11 years after, the same Dipo is praising the Tinubu and the wife for giving N50k to Nigerian businesses as grant.
For context,
N50k in 2015 = $416.
N50k in 2026 = $37.
Suddenly, pseudo intellectuals are pushing the dubious narrative that akara, roasted corn and kuli-kuli are sustainable means of livelihood.
How about groundnut and sachet water business? They should include them too.
The defenders of this wicked regime are telling us that Remi Tinubu has donated billions of Naira to NGOs.
First, they should tell us where she got such money from.
Second, they should provide the names and locations of the benefiting NGOs, and verifiable evidence that the donations have been properly utilized.
The advocates of akara economy should set up this business for their siblings and family members to demonstrate the efficacy of their postulations.
Since your mother sold akara to train you, why haven’t you opened akara factory for your wife, daughters, sons and political associates to promote and sustain your mother’s entrepreneurial legacy?
With the collapse of public education, how many akara sellers in this country currently can afford to pay their children’s tuition in private schools?
How many akara sellers can pay the rising costs of tertiary education and healthcare?
How many akara sellers can afford to pay the rising rents in Nigeria today?
How many akara will one sell to be able to buy fuel?
If akara, roasted corn and kuli-kuli are viable and sustainable microeconomic investments in Tinubu’s Nigeria, let the defenders of Tinubu show us members of their families that are engaged in this enterprise.
The point is not that akara, roasted corn and kuli-kuli aren’t necessary foods, the point is that we are all witnesses to how the Tinubu family has amassed wealth and captured state power to entrench and further their selfish and greedy ambitions.
We have seen the insane convoy of Remi Tinubu, Seyi Tinubu and their benefactor in Aso Rock.
It is deceitful and disrespectful for the same family that is living in opulence, amidst the ravaging and dangerous hunger in the country, to be pushing akara, roasted corn and kuli-kuli economy.
Bola Tinubu’s regime has been a wasteful and disastrous experiment.
We have seen how he is destroying our economy. But his annoying and power monger wife feels she can lecture the victims of their misrule and incompetence about the viability of the akara economy.
Enough of the silly expositions.
Dear @SenRemiTinubu, I have started roasted agbado business as instructed by you. I used my certificates to lit up the fire.
Do well to ensure bandits do not attack me on my way to farm, do well to ensure price of transportation doesn’t run me out of business. Lastly, while you and governor’s wives cruise in the exotic cars you shared, please stop by and buy my corn.
Lokoja Judgment: An Unnecessary Serious Setback for Nigerian Democracy
Today was an exceptionally busy day. I left Lagos in the early hours for Emekuku, where I visited the School of Nursing Sciences, an institution I have consistently supported over the years. It was gratifying to inspect projects funded through my previous interventions, including the school’s computer laboratory. Such investments reaffirm my belief that education remains one of the strongest foundations for national development.
From there, I attended the 80th birthday celebration of the Emeritus Archbishop of Owerri, Most Rev. Dr Anthony Obinna, whose commitment to justice, peace, and the common good has inspired many, before proceeding to Madonna University for another engagement.
It was at Madonna University that I received the court news of the Lokoja court rulings through my brother, Senator Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso.
Every Nigerian committed to the country’s progress should be deeply concerned. This judgment represents another setback for our democracy and the institutions upon which our future depends.
It is regrettable that some who claim to champion democracy now appear determined to weaken the very institutions that sustain it. In doing so, they are undermining public confidence and endangering the future of millions of Nigerians.
The legislature and the judiciary are increasingly being drawn into this pattern of institutional decline. Democracy cannot thrive where institutions lose their independence and credibility.
Those who seek to weaken Nigeria’s democratic foundations will not ultimately prevail. When a similar situation recently affected the ADC, I condemned it without hesitation. I do so again today because my position has always been guided by principle.
My concern is not about who becomes President. My concern is that Nigeria works. Our politics must move beyond the quest for power and focus instead on building a united nation founded on justice, strong institutions, the rule of law, and equal opportunity. That is the Nigeria we owe ourselves and the one we must leave for future generations.
I therefore urge all well-meaning Nigerians to rise above partisan interests and defend our democracy. The survival of our institutions is inseparable from the survival of our nation. It's when we work together that a new Nigeria of our dream is made POssible. -PO
It is too late for anyone to attempt to use the judiciary to derail or narrow Nigeria’s multi-party democratic space. If the said association (Peace Movement Party) were a party affected by the judgment on our initial suit, the only option open to it was to appeal the verdict, an option which it did not take. Even at that, the window open for such appeal has since closed and any such appeal by now has become statute-barred.
To now try to upturn that verdict through the back door, via a motion, is not only unheard-of, but also illegal and an outright abuse of court process.
We thank Nigerians for their support, and we thank all our candidates, members and supporters for their confidence and trust in the party. We assure them that all nominations made remain valid, that our platform is strong and legal, and that justice will be served.
Signed:
Sen. Moses Cleopas Zuwoghe
National Chairman, Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC)
NDC STATEMENT ON COURT RULING
Our attention has been drawn to a ruling by the Federal High Court sitting in Lokoja this morning, wherein His Lordship, Honourable Justice Isah Dashen, gave a ruling on an application filed by an unregistered association known as Peace Movement Party.
The public knows that by December 2025, the Nigeria Democratic Congress as an association complained of INEC’s refusal to register us as a political party, whereupon we proceeded to the Federal High Court. The Federal High Court upheld our constitutional right to freedom of association under the Constitution and compelled INEC to register us, which INEC did.
Since then, we have started political activities, embarked on the registration of members, held congresses from ward to national levels, held conventions, and concluded primaries to all offices following INEC’s timetable. We have been fully participating in all INEC activities without let or hindrance.
NDC also fielded candidates, and fully participated, in the just-concluded bye elections in Nasarawa and Enugu states.
Candidates for the House of Assembly, House of Representatives, Senate, Governorship, Presidential, and Vice-Presidential positions have been duly nominated, and we are in the process of formally submitting them to INEC in accordance with INEC’s timetable.
The association that filed the complaint is unknown to us. The Peace Movement Party (PMP) is not a registered political party in Nigeria. They claimed, in a motion (not even a substantive suit or appeal), that the court should set aside its earlier judgment on the purported ground that, in 2015, they had sought registration as a political party with the victory sign as their symbol and were denied.
It is important to note that they are not an association applying for registration now under the exercise that started last year. They are also not a registered political party in Nigeria participating in the political process now, as we are.
Furthermore, the court, having delivered a final judgment in our suit against INEC, had become functus officio. The court had also dealt with all related issues concerning associations claiming they wanted to use the same symbol and colours. The court, in its judgment, overruled INEC when those issues were raised, and there is no appeal against that judgment.
Therefore, we are surprised that, on an application by an association claiming that it wanted to register as a political party with the victory sign in 2015—an association that is not a registered political party and is not seeking registration now to participate in the current political process—His Lordship came to the conclusion that they have locus standi, and furthermore, that he has jurisdiction to do what he did.
Accordingly, we have been informed that His Lordship made an order setting aside the court’s earlier decision of December 2025.
There was no order directing our deregistration. However, we are dissatisfied with the decision that has been made, and we have instructed our team of lawyers to immediately proceed to the Court of Appeal to challenge the jurisdiction and propriety of His Lordship’s order.
We assure the general public, and particularly our candidates at all levels, that our party is on course. The NDC has not been deregistered, and we are challenging today’s order at the Court of Appeal as soon as possible. We have no doubt that justice will be done.
We condemn efforts by those who seek to shrink the democratic space and stifle opposition voices and alternatives. Nigerians have a right to a full range of opinions, ideas, and alternatives, and political platforms and candidates should be allowed to participate in the 2027 general election process, which has already gone midway.

On the first occasion, he arrived at my hotel with a big cow and a group of Ogene drummers to invite me to an event. I was told he had big plans for my 80th birthday celebration next year, but unfortunately, he is gone. IK Ogbonna proved himself a true friend, both in life and in deåth."

On “malaria and typhoid” scam in Nigeria, pls kindly read this and share to everyone you care about.
First things first;
The vast majority of “malaria and typhoid tests” done in Nigeria (especially that popular ‘MP Widal’ test) is a COMPLETE SCAM and an elaborate fraudulent scheme to defraud you while hospitals make money from your ignorance.
Yeah. I’ve said this many times.
And I will say it again:
Pls STOP doing “malaria and typhoid test” IF you are well and feel healthy. The common “widal test” done for typhoid is a largely useless and nonspecific test.
Also routine malaria testing is a useless exercise in a country like Nigeria where malaria is endemic because almost everybody has the malaria parasite in their system- but not everybody needs any treatment as long as they are well and fine in themselves.
The actual cold brutal truth is that many people suffer from some degree of hypochondriasis (which is a health anxiety condition where you persistently believe strongly that something is ‘wrong’ with your body and that you have an undiagnosed illness EVEN THOUGH you are actually well and fine in yourself).
This makes you keep going to hospitals who then exploit your illness anxiety, make you pay for tests you don’t need and end up giving antimalaria and antibiotics medicines you don’t need to treat an illness that only exists in your imagination. This is why some of you keep “treating malaria and typhoid” every month and it never goes away.
You know why? You never had any malaria or typhoid that needs treating. What you need is to STOP doing unnecessary tests and STOP spending you don’t have to treat a malaria that doesn’t exist. And if this persistent health anxiety is overwhelming for you, pls go see a therapist or a mental health expert to help address the hypochondriasis and persistent health anxiety.
Don’t get me wrong:
I am NOT saying all malaria/typhoid testing is useless. NO. I have not said that.
What I am saying is that if you are well and healthy in yourself, you do NOT need any malaria or typhoid tests.
If you have malaria symptoms like fever, vomiting, diarrhea (especially bloody diarrhea), recent travel outside the country or recent visit to somewhere where you drank unclean water and ate unhygienic food, severe headaches, new bitter taste in your mouth, not being able to eat or drink, abdominal pain and you feel very weak and unwell; then yes, you should get tested and treated. This makes perfect medical sense.
But to go and be getting “malaria typhoid test” randomly and on a routine regular basis like you are going to the salon for a new hairstyle, is an absolute waste of your time, and waste of your money.
Malaria testing is ONLY relevant IF you are not well. As I said before, in Nigeria, millions of people are bitten regularly by mosquitoes and so they will have a positive malaria test result if you routinely and randomly test.
There is NO need to “treat” a person who is well and healthy in themselves. The hospitals won’t tell you this because they need to make money: and many of you won’t still listen because you like to waste your money.
Anyway the bottom line is simple:
IF you are well and feel fine in yourself,
THERE IS NO NEED FOR ANY MALARIA OR TYPHOID TESTS.
It is far better to convert this energy you use chasing unnecessary wasteful malaria tests (when you are well and don’t need it) use that energy instead to regularly check your blood pressure, your blood sugar and your weight at least once every year- because the highest risk factors for kidney failure, heart attack, stroke, unexplained paralysis and sudden death in young people is undetected/untreated high blood pressure, high blood sugar and unmanaged excessive weight. This is a far more important use of your time and money.
Pls kindly read and share this post.
You never know who this information will save their life and save their money.
Thank you.
So after 6 years, DNA test results have finally confirmed that an unidentified body deposited at an Ikorodu mortuäry belongs to Pelumi Onifade. He was one of the reporters covering the #EndSARS protests.
Later in October 24, 2020, Pelumi was arrested and taken away by police officers in Agege despite explaining that he was a reporter. He was also wearing a jacket identifying him as a member of the press.
Days later, an unidentified body was discovered at a môrtuary in Ikorodu, Lagos, and it was speculated that the body belonged to Pelumi Onifade.
Finally it has been confirmed...

Nigeria has now been delisted from the International Maths Olympiad, whose finals are happening in Shanghai, China, this July.
It is one of the most prestigious academic competitions in the world.
Nigeria can now only participate as an observer nation, while other countries can participate fully.
This was because of the Ministry of Education’s inability to fund students for 4 consecutive years through National Mathematical Center.
It’s a big shame for Nigeria.
How cars went from 3 million to 9 million.
Phones went from 300k plus to millions of Naira.
Rent for a 3 bedroom flat in central

All this in the span of 3 years, and you’re saying we should vote for the same man who made all this so?
