SAVE THE DAY, the @NatFloodForum are hosting their conference on 5th March 2020 in the National Railway Museum in York. One of the questions we are posing is ‘what next’ after flooding? Watch out for more information over the coming weeks #NFFConference#Action4Floods#WhatNext
Lincoln, Preston, Calderdale, Kendal, Tadcaster (and others!) - we have some good news for you - Government has announced £62m for 13 new flood schemes better protecting 9000 homes #floodaware https://t.co/IdLJqXlCXj
#wednesdaywisdom We’re showcasing inspiring #CivilSociety case studies that were gathered for the ‘Connecting Cranes with Communities’ report - Digital Money Coach improved digital confidence and skills in #coventry https://t.co/4mTvXOCJ2O #inclusiveWM
We believe this is a significant moment in the evolution of the water industry, to deliver the benefits of private sector investment and efficiency within a clear and legally-binding public purpose framework. Want to know more?
On reflection, my favourite #FloodandCoast2019 session was workshop on 25YEP with @PaulCobbing Jez Westgarth @DanielJ88@MBarnes_Hydro Phil Jones et al. Vigorous, informed debate with input from everyone in the room. Even when one of the panellists wasn’t there!
Communities at risk have contributed to developing the new FCERM Strategy consultation. Now is the time to see what EA has produced and respond. Is it ambitious enough? Does everyone have a role? @NatFloodForum

Flood authority perspective on flood groups: They feel empowered that they are no longer just victims that they're actually doing something about it themselves and getting others to do to stuff as well.
Not just #SuDS but an insight into what goes on at a Regional Flood and Coastal Committee. And a reminder that 'delivering' #engagement is not the same as putting in a fish pass (random eg, fishies please don't @ me).
What's flooding? Experiencing engagement as a 'bolt on' rather than a vital part of FRM. And that aggravate the impacts of flooding. That's the conclusion that my PhD chat with @Desk_Jockeys landed upon #People1st

A striking anomaly is the lack of strategic coordination of flood risk issues with the work of other sectors, who often have much more influence on outcomes than FRM. This is one approach. There are others. The FCERM Strategy needs to address this. @NatFloodForum
Oh no! More complexity in FRM. One of the major barriers that flood groups cite in trying to better manage their flood risk is the complexity over ‘who does what & whom do you contact’. To EA or to RA? Whilst talking of complexity, where does NFM fit in?
I am using AI transcription services to help with my 50+ PhD interviews. So PhD non-quotes: ‘You start looking at Katherine, very short, to short to fix a sticking plaster’ or ‘September has stopped working. How do I get a replacement?’. I'll keep logging these mis-trancriptions
The public have changed their minds.
55% now want to remain in the EU.
John Curtice is right - Government cannot be certain it is implementing the 'will of the people'.
For the sake of our democracy, we must give the public a say with a #PeoplesVote.
