Every complaint (the valid ones anyways) are about stuff that FIFA and the politicians screwed up. Meanwhile, my feed is full of people simply enjoying America and how cool it is. Seems the people who are actually here are enjoying themselves.
Nobody wants it to be awful. But it is fucking awful before it’s started.
Train tickets to get to venues are $100, which is insanity. Hotel prices are 10x usual rates.
There’s the ticketing. Single match tickets cost more than what people pay for season tickets usually.
There’s also the fact that large swathes of normal fans from around the world are excluded from even attending, even if they could afford it.
Officials and players are being banned from entering or subject to over the top detentions.
Locals are abusing visitors by tearing down banners and flags by doing their whole “MAGA” bullshit, so they’re not making it very welcoming.
There’s the worry about violence too, it’s one of the most violent developed nations on the planet, there’s already been 284 mass shootings this year.
The stadium issue is mostly just a bit of banter but many pitches won’t be suitable for football.
It’s not a World Cup for the working class fan, people are spending tens of thousands of $€£ to attend just three matches. The World Cup should be about bringing people together to celebrate football.
Finally, the country is run by a rapist, who was convicted of felonies too. He’s recently started a needless war because of his ego. That’s cost billions of people around the world a lot of money due to daily living costs continuing to rise as a result.
The country he’s chosen to go to war with, have their team not be able to stay overnight and that’s just not a level playing field, so it’s going to affect the result, again, because of the rapist.
Hope this helps.
@DanKelley66 How about this, Tatum misses a go ahead jumper and then gets FTs because the other team had an aneurysm in the middle of the court. And then he goes 1-2 on the FTs and then has to go to the bench because he is a defensive liability. I'm sure the local media would be kind.
@CS11__ Not going to spoil anything but I think you will be genuinely happy with what each of these performers bring to their respective roles. I thought Stonestreet was particularly great.
@BBCInMemoriam I would but he blocked me after the Tampa/Saints NFC divisional playoff. It wasnt even something insulting. My only regret is not getting my moneys worth.
