The @officialEFCC under Ola Olukoyede is inherently evil.
I sat through two separate court sittings today in which two individuals, including Maryam Isa Shehu, a female student of Bayero University Kano (BUK), were arraigned before Justice Joyce Abdulmalik by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (@officialEFCC) for allegedly “cyberbullying” the agency.
In each case, the defendants had already spent close to 30 days in detention before they were brought before the court. Yet, instead of being allowed to return home while their cases proceed, they were both remanded in prison custody, Maryam was sent to Suleja Prison, while the other defendant was sent to Kuje Prison, where they are expected to remain until August 31.
What makes Maryam’s situation even more disturbing is that she is a final-year university student who is due to begin her final examinations this Saturday.
None of that appeared to matter.
An anti-corruption agency should be fighting corruption, not turning itself into an institution for hunting down, detaining and prosecuting citizens over criticism or alleged “cyberbullying.”
What kind of institution detains a university student for nearly a month, arraigns her for allegedly cyberbullying the agency, and then seeks to keep her behind bars while her final examinations are about to begin?
WHAT IS CAUSING KIDNEY FAILURE IN THE SOUTH EAST?
These pictures are spreading on social media.
All of these patients were recorded in just one hospital.
That's not a coincidence.
I have been reading about this rising case of kidney failure in the south East.
But this particular case got my attention.
This is no longer normal.
Please to stay alive requires that one abstains from certain habits and foods.
I love to eat bread a lot.
But recently I have called myself to order.
Yes..
I had to make that sacrifice to be alive.
Please you too check out these habits and foods and avoid them.
Habits to Avoid
1. Smoking
Smoking is a well-established risk factor for CKD.
It damages blood vessels, reduces blood flow to the kidneys, and accelerates kidney function decline.
2. Leading a Sedentary Lifestyle / Lack of Exercise.
Physical inactivity contributes to obesity, insulin resistance, and metabolic syndrome — all of which strain the kidneys.
Regular exercise has been shown to improve estimated glomerular filtration rate (eGFR).
3. Ignoring Blood Pressure & Blood Sugar
Uncontrolled hypertension and diabetes are the two leading causes of kidney failure.
High blood pressure damages the small blood vessels in the kidneys, while diabetes causes glomerular hyperfiltration and progressive scarring.
4. Overusing Certain Medications
Frequent or long-term use of NSAIDs (e.g., ibuprofen), lithium, and some immunosuppressive drugs can directly damage the kidneys.
Always use these under medical guidance.
5. Dehydration & Holding Urine
Chronic low fluid intake and regularly delaying urination can concentrate toxins in the kidneys and increase the risk of kidney stones and infections.
Foods & Dietary Patterns to Avoid
1. Excess Salt (Sodium) High sodium intake raises blood pressure and causes fluid overload, both of which accelerate CKD progression.
The WHO recommends keeping salt intake under 5 g/day (about 2,300 mg sodium).
2. Excessive Protein Intake Very high protein diets (especially from supplements and red meat) cause glomerular hyperfiltration — overworking the kidney filters.
While there's no strict limit for healthy people, unnecessary protein loading and amino acid supplements should be avoided.
3. High Saturated Fat, Trans Fat & Cholesterol
Diets rich in these promote dyslipidemia and atherosclerosis, which can impair renal blood flow. Choose foods low in saturated fats, trans fats, and cholesterol.
4. Added Sugars & Refined Carbs
Excess sugar contributes to obesity, type 2 diabetes, and insulin resistance — major drivers of diabetic kidney disease.
5. High-Purine Foods (if prone to high uric acid) Foods like organ meats, certain seafood (anchovies, sardines), and excessive red meat can raise serum uric acid.
Hyperuricemia is linked to a higher risk of CKD.
6. Processed & Ultra-Processed Foods
These are typically loaded with hidden sodium, phosphates, and added sugars — all of which burden kidney function over time.
Abeg....
Let's all make an effort to stay alive.
