On this day 250 years ago, Adam Smith published The Wealth of Nations — a landmark text of the Scottish Enlightenment and a work that reshaped how the world understands trade, value, and prosperity.

What began as an attempt to “pass the time” evolved into Smith’s magnum opus, introducing ideas that would define modern economics and demonstrating how open exchange can create opportunity and abundance for all.

Today, we’re proud to carry forward Adam Smith’s legacy at his final remaining home. To mark this anniversary, we’re sharing just a few of the many highlights that have taken place at Panmure House over the years.

On Africa Day 2025, I was recognized and awarded the Gamal Abdel Nasser Fellowship in Cairo by the Egyptian Government through Egypt’s Ministry of Youth and Sports led by Honorable Minister Dr. Ashraf Sobhy.

The Nasser Fellowship is an international leadership mechanism for youth development under the auspices of His Excellency @AlsisiOfficial - President of the Arab Republic of Egypt.

This year the Fellowship honored the legacy of Gamal Abdel Nasser and his vision for the Global South - South Cooperation, in addition the fellowship in partnership with the United Nations commemorated the 80 years of the @UN @UNYouthAffairs

Recap of Day 2 in Brussels!

From AI policy developments between Africa and Europe to youth-led recommendations to that will inform the AU - EU Ministers.

Youth are taking centre stage and shaping real conversations ahead of the AU-EU Ministerial Conference.

Our sessions focused on AI policy cooperation between Africa and Europe, as well as the role of AI in media and journalism - Challenges and Opportunities.

We concluded the day with powerful discussions and contributions at the AU - EU Civil Society & Youth Forum, where our collective recommendations are to be presented to the AU and EU Ministers at the Ministerial Conference.

Hi, I am Paul from Tanzania, I am a champion of the Our Voice Our Future global youth initiative and I have the opportunity to follow the African Union - European Union Ministerial Conference here in Brussels.

What does this high level meeting of ministers from the two regional blocs mean for young people in Africa and in Europe?

1. Ministers will receive inputs from Civil Society and Youth Representatives to ensure this partnership benefits young people on both continents.

2. Mutual partnership for prosperity that the AU and EU have been nurturing for the past 25 years that will continue to benefit young people.
