Congratulations to Paul Foster and the team at University of Portsmouth for this fantastic achievement 👏
@kirkkorner I know they have a job to do & it can’t be easy at times but this, along with other examples of court staff being generally unwelcoming or unaware of the public’s right to enter court, is still a big issue. If they want to open up the courts, it needs to be from the bottom up
Took a group of our @NCTJ_news outreach students to crown court and magistrates today to experience open justice in action. As well as watching a case, they were taken on a tour of the court and had a q&a with a judge
A group of Portsmouth journalism and media students enjoyed a tour around the Houses of Parliament to see how the wheels of democracy turn. Thank you to @StephenMorganMP for meeting us and fielding quite a diverse range of questions

Fantastic story here from my MA Journalism student, Harun. He is a Syrian freelance journalist who has connected directly with the advancing rebels. If any foreign newsdesks need support in their coverage, please hire him…
"Our fighters are now entering #Aleppo city to liberate it from Assad and Iranian mercenaries and to return it to the #Syrian revolution’s ranks,” rebel commander Lieutenant Colonel Hassan Abdul Ghani told @MiddleEastEye

Our MA Journalism student @harun_alaswad and his colleague put together this important piece on Syrian refugees fleeing Lebanon - it's well worth a read. https://t.co/2RFU0Ay86j
Our MA and BA journalism students have produced some truly amazing features in the past year. From witches to dogs, a Costa Rican travel review and the saiga in Kazakhstan, we have seen a variety of great "hooks". Here's just a taster ...

@gazzy_uk Yes indeed, it happens to the public all the time and can be quite intimidating for anyone going to watch proceedings. It just becomes more publicised when it happens to journalists.
