Every company I've worked at, product graphics were always a bottleneck.
They're important assets because they help sell the value of the product. But what happens when the product is constantly evolving?
I built a tool (inspired by what George Bugg started) where I turned all of out atoms/components into HTML so that anyone internally can create their own product graphics. Because we have amazing guidelines (shoutout Shivani and team) I was able to give it specific constraints, rules, and guidelines.
So much more potential for this tool, e.g, product animation or creating demos. I even got a Slack bot to generate graphics without me even touching the tool.
@FonsMans@tryramp Not only are you ridiculously generative and talented, but you're also a joy to work with. Thank you so much for all the love you poured into this.
Let's keep building.
Many orgs don't know how to leverage a brand designer.
Exposure to different areas other than just purely branding is a hidden opportunity, .e.g, influencing brand experience in the product (tons of range there); campaigns; product launches; growth teams need systems to sell the product and outcomes, and almost always, brand designers are needed for that.
I get where you're coming from and mostly agree. Majority of b2b tech companies don't have the structure or vision or processes in place to get the most out of top brand designers.
Brand design is increasingly becoming rarer talent to find.
There are just not enough brand designers in the world to work at all of these startups and companies. And candidly, there are many places just not worth working at full-time for brand designers because the leadership or vision isn't there.
Brand design is about communicating the brand's promises and values. It's the thing that helps your company stand out.
I'm working with @dannydecimals to help top designers (product, brand, etc.) find the right companies with the right leadership that value design.
Danny has a different philosophy, one that resonated with me instantly. The process is insanely thoughtful and purposeful. You upload your portfolio and profile, and you have me and the team bridging expectations and process. If you're doing more than three loops, then you're wasting time.
I've worked at places that treat brand design as important as top talent in engineering, and I've worked at places that treat brand design as a service desk. The latter doesn't deserve any top brand design talent. I want to work with companies and designers to match ambition with vision, craft with transformation.
