Many believe DeFi is blockchain’s killer use case, but I see something bigger: Zero Knowledge Decentralised DNS (ZK Domain Name System).
Why is it so special? Let’s start with DNS and HTTPS. The “s” in HTTPS stands for secure, creating an encrypted connection via Secure Socket Layer (SSL). A security certificate, issued by a Certificate Authority (CA), proves the domain’s authenticity and generates keys for secure communication.
Sounds secure, right? But here’s the problem: in a centralised system, you don’t control the private keys 🔑 CAs do, leading to:
• Man-in-the-Middle attacks: If a CA is compromised, attackers can intercept your traffic.
• Surveillance: Admins or governments can access emails, transactions, and data.
While HTTPS adds security, it’s flawed. Decentralised DNS solves this by giving control of encryption keys back to the domain owner, eliminating reliance on CAs and reducing these vulnerabilities.
Now, let’s take it a step further with a novel approach: Zero Knowledge Decentralised DNS (ZKDNS).
What if we combined decentralised DNS with zero-knowledge proofs to create a Sybil-resistant network?
Ok, hold up, I can hear you asking, what the heck is Sybil resistance? Sybil resistance is the ability of a system to prevent a single entity from creating multiple fake identities or accounts to manipulate the network, ensuring each participant is unique and preventing fraud or abuse.
