Let's say 2 players want to trade items. Typically you'd need to write some atomic swap contract logic, that makes sure user a swap to user b, and that both a and b approved the swap, etc - there's a lot of rigid steps that once defined and deployed you can't really do much else with beyond that unless you deploy more logic, or upgrade the contracts.
With sessions and atomic multicalls we can do way more flexible interactions.
Let's say user a and user b want to trade items. When they recently logged into our game, they approved a session for the game - this allows our game's wallet via HYCHAIN API's interact with our user's assets within the scope of what they approved - think of this like how you'd approve discord or twitter permissions when you use disc/twitter to sign into some 3rd party service.
As a game now, my players want to trade - I can create trade logic by just using the simple transfer primitives of the assets they want to trade.
My multicall basically looks like..
- User A transfers item 1 to User B (ERC721 Transfer)
- User B transfers item 2 to User A (ERC721 Transfer)
Because it's a single tx/multicall, both of those transfers must succeed, otherwise the transaction reverts and no transfers happen.
Now maybe we want to make this multicall more complex.. we can do that.
Let's say User A wants to trade an item + some game current to User B for an item.. Easy.
- User A transfers item 1 to User B (ERC721 Transfer)
- User A transfers 100 game currency to User B (ERC20 Transfer)
- User B transfers item 2 to User A (ERC721 Transfer)
Again, because it's a multicall - it's all a single tx where all things must succeed, otherwise they all revert and fail.
Now as a developer, you can make simple to hyper complex application level logic for your game, using basic primitives (like transfers, burns, mints, etc) built into smart contracts.
This makes it way more flexible to develop, handle many unique cases of interactions, and build complex & unique interactions in a non-rigid way.

- A number of very talented game devs / veterans recently joined to work with the team to get HYTOPIA beta to the polished state we're targeting. This includes ex-staff level Roblox engineers, and more.
- One of the original core developers of the engine of another similar, very successful game will be consulting with us to guide the long term server/engine development of HYTOPIA.
