Playing through campaign evolved with a friend, the amount of asset reuse is depressing, ironically the actually new assets are what I have artistic issue with.
but I'm more annoyed that they didn't add obvious cut content like wildlife or engineers.

Also they made the health bar functionally a second shield, which, why even keep it at that point?

Looking at your favorites, I'd recommend Ideon(tv) +be invoked(finale movie like EoE), rahxephon, vifam,
and reading the Getter Robo manga(robo, G, GO, Shin & Arc (which sounds like a lot but I finished it in 3 days)).
