@Martine21886963@AdeysAlthorp@AlthorpHouse They are fantastic - & so pleased they are all so healthy & clean. The nest itself is another matter - full of regurgitated pellets & just a little bit wiffy.
@ItImnot@AdeysAlthorp A great size to ring & each ring bears a unique code & number & if it is recorded anywhere else we can tell the distance & where it came from & its age. All very useful data for the BTO - (British Trust for Ornithology).
All carried out under Schedule1 licence.
@IreneSc10551404@AdeysAlthorp@AlthorpHouse Judging from certain data I took this brood of four chick were between 38-43 days old. Good age to ring them - (but a fluffy one) π€£
By a measurement of one of the primary feather we can assess the age by the emerging feather from the sheath. Chris Payne - NRG
@SI_HESTER@AdeysAlthorp We are hoping that they will. We put up this box after seeing Little Owls on the beam ledge, where I was monitoring breeding Barn Owls at the same site.
Time will tell & we will keep everyone upto date with Althorp Owls. I'm monitoring some 28 site throughout Northants.
@CarlBovisNature Indeed - under my ringing licence I have ringed almost 600 Goldfinches this year in my garden.
Recovery/Recapture up in Scotland & one even on the West Coast of Ireland.
@RingersWm Certain does! Fairly recently had a Goldfinch from one of my ringing site in Northants was retrapped on the West Coast of Ireland, County Clare. π€π―
