कल मध्य प्रदेश में कांग्रेस पार्टी की राज्यसभा उम्मीदवार @MNatarajanINC जी के नामांकन को रद्द कर दिया गया था। इसके बाद संगठन महासचिव @kcvenugopalmp जी सहित हम सभी ने चुनाव आयोग में शिकायत दर्ज कराने का निवेदन किया था और जब हमारी मांगों को अनसुना किया गया तब मजबूरन हमें चुनाव आयोग के कार्यालय के बाहर धरना देना पड़ा।

भाजपा ने जिस तरीके से चुनावी परंपराओं और लोकतांत्रिक व्यवस्था पर लगातार हमला किया है, उससे यह प्रतीत होता है कि इस नामांकन प्रक्रिया में भी गलत तरीके से हथकंडे अपनाकर उम्मीदवार का नामांकन रद्द कराया गया।

अब भाजपा मध्यप्रदेश से इस राज्यसभा सीट को भी गलत तरीके से हथियाने का प्रयास कर रही है। कांग्रेस पार्टी इस साजिश का विरोध करेगी और इसे कानूनी प्रक्रिया के तहत चुनौती देगी। चुनाव आयोग को इस शिकायत को गंभीरता से लेते निष्पक्षता से जांच करनी चाहिए और उम्मीदवार को उचित राहत प्रदान करनी चाहिए।

4000 EVMS destroyed!!

Alipore Sadar strong room, in which 4000 EVMS were kept which were used in recent Bengal State Assembly elections, caught fire.

Flames were first seen on 2nd & 3rd floors.

But somehow Fire reached 7th & 8th floors without reaching 4th, 5th & 6th 😂😂

A Note to Muslim Representatives in the Indian National Congress:

Sections of the press have reported India’s Leader of Opposition and former @INCIndia President Shri. @RahulGandhi’s statement - made at a meeting of @INCMinority’s Advisory Council meeting on 23rd May - in which he has advised Muslim office-bearers in the Congress Party to step-up and use the correct nomenclature, when addressing issues related to the Muslim community.

While this applies to all levels of Congress with regards all communities whose interests @INCIndia has represented historically, it is a welcome initiative by the Congress party’s senior leadership with regards the dormant (and lethargic) attitude of its middle-management, towards genuine Muslim concerns and grievances.

Shri. Rahul Gandhi’s assertion should be seen as an appropriate reprimand to the official interlocutors of the Muslim community within #Congress. With very few exceptions at present, these appointees hold office due to the community they belong to, and are expected to represent.

Historically Congress has always represented a huge diversity of political opinion in its ranks. For its Muslim representatives a bid to pander to middling “more than Muslim” identities is both fruitless and hollow; particularly at this juncture.

Speaking openly and unapologetically about specific community interests is a legitimate exercise in democratic and participatory politics. For too long an aversion to the ‘M’ word in the public discourse of the principal party of opposition has normalised an absence of resistance to the challenges faced by the Muslims of India.

It is hoped that community-interlocutors and appointees - whichever community/opinion/creed or persuasion they may identify with - will work to act as interest groups are expected to. This is especially important in these times, when public debate and legitimate concerns about identity, representation and community rights are under severe strain.

The onus is now on individuals holding office within the Congress Party to represent the Muslim viewpoint within Congress, and not the other way around.

#UmarKhalidBailPlea: Can you fathom the absurdity of this? The Supreme Court of India says "continued detention has not crossed constitutional impermissibility to override the statutory embargo as against them" in the case of Umar Khalid and Sharjeel Imam.

In other words, Justice Aravind Kumar means that although a constitutional court can grant bail if the period of incarceration is long, unjustified, or disproportionate, in the case of Khalid and other, the time in jail is NOT YET long enough, the delay is NOT YET shocking or unconstitutional, and that Article 21 right to life and liberty has NOT BEEN VIOLATED yet!

The constitutional right to liberty has NOT reached a level STRONG ENOUGH to defeat the draconian UAPA bail prohibition! FIVE YEARS in jail without possibility of trial starting is not good enough for Hon'ble Lordships Justice Aravind Kumar and Prasanna Varale!
