Two multi-site RCTs from @PREDICT_network | Med mx of paed behavioural disturbance in ED | PEAChY-O: Oral Olanz vs Diaz | PEAChY-M: IM Olanz vs Droperidol
Results are out! Oral olanzapine & diazepam were equally effective and both appear safe. 40% of patients did not achieve successful sedation. In 15% of cases, healthcare staff were exposed to verbal or physical aggression. More research is required to guide effective therapies.

Huge thanks to our best recruiting site - the team at Women and Children's Hospital Adelaide ED (featured: Gaby research co-ordinator) we have made it to >80% for PEAChY-O and >30% for M.
Well done to all the other sites as well.
On the home stretch now for the oral study!
Have you ever wished you could read the nitty gritty details of the PEAChY-O & M trials?
Well now you can! Both protocol papers have been published Open Access in @BMJ_Open@PREDICT_network

The PEAChY studies are off to a great start in 2023! >60% of total recruited to PEAChY-O and >20% recruited to PEAChY-M. Here is Kate the PEAChY research co-ordinator at @CareGch with Zac from the GCUH ED research team at a recent trial site visit. @PREDICT_network@acemonline
It's been a big year for PEAChY. A huge thanks to the investigators, clinicians and participants.
We end the year having recruited 50% of the total required for PEAChY-O and 17% for PEAChY-M.
Looking forward to a productive & collaborative 2023. Happy New Year from team PEAChY!
Grateful to be running these trials within the amazing @PREDICT_network and pleased to share that we have recruited 30% of participants for PEAChY-O and 10% of participants for PEAChY-M to date

The ED staff at @MonashChildrens have been doing an awesome job of enrolling patient's into PEAChY-O&M. Pictured is Monash's PEAChY research lead & ED clinical nurse specialist Kath with PEAChY trial coordinator Kate. Huge thanks also goes to @DrSimonCraig Monash's PI!
Thanks to the @DFTBubbles for the opportunity to present an overview of paediatric behavioural disturbance and an update on the PEAChY trials.
We will try our best to keep all of our new followers up to date with the latest on the studies #DFTB22

Behavioral disturbance in young people @ #DFTB22
Mental health disorders are intricately linked to psycho-social factors.
ASD/ADHD predominantly are a prevalent reason for behavioral disturbance.
Organic illnesses are exceedingly rare.
Great news: we have recruited 20% of the required participants for PEAChY-O and as of today GCUH ED @CareGch have commenced recruitment for both studies meaning 5 sites are up and running!
Looking forward to providing all the details at the @DFTBubbles conference next week.
Here is our PhD candidate @elyssiabourke at the Women's and Children's Hospital Adelaide, undertaking a study site visit with WCH ED research coordinator Gaby. WCH are doing an amazing job at recruiting participants since they started in June - keep up the great work team!
Looking forward to catching up with fellow emergency researchers and providing an update on the progress of the PEAChY studies this week at the @acemonline research seminar.

2/2 three more emergency departments across Australia will join the trial soon - Westmead Children's, Gold Coast University Hospital and Queensland Children's Hospital @PREDICT_network
The PEAChY Trials are recruiting across four Australian emergency departments - the Royal Children's, Women and Children's Adelaide, Monash Children's and Perth Children's Hospital. Thanks to all of the site investigators for your hard work getting the trials over the line 1/2
@PEMDocSyd@acemonline Great question. Decision was made using current guidelines & Aus survey (currently unpublished) of 218 ED consultants in which 74% indicated they wanted diaz included in the RCT (97% wanted olanz). 51% wanted loraz so it was just a less popular benzo.
With 30 patients recruited to PEAChY-O to date we are nearly 10% of the way there!
A big thanks to all the clinicians who has recruited a participant so far.
Stay tuned for more updates as we go multi-centre over the coming months.
