I once corrected the pronunciation of a Māori word by a colleague of mine who, feeling slightly offended, then offered to help me with my English. Pretty sure NZ & Oz are the only countries where monolingualism is ´desirable’

You know what? I’m a bit over seeing Māori portrayed as low-life, troubled menaces of society in film because that’s certainly not my experience of life. Love seeing Māori filmmakers receiving accolades but let’s ditch this stereotype of Māori being low-lives please I’m over it!
