When the full gravity of what was done to me as a teenager started to dawn on me I truly felt like a ghost of a person. Just shattered, overcome with regret and haunted by the conversations my providers had with me, how they misled me so severely. In that I also stopped running from my gender related distress, I was able to find others who had similar experiences and that helped me confront the very "dysphoria" I had been running from all these years. In doing that I realized my maleness was never the problem, it was the preconceived notions, homophobia and stereotypes that I had been conditioned to see the world through my entire life. I was able to engage with these and come to accept myself more holistically as a person, realizing my body was never the problem. It was the way society had made me feel about it. No one in distress deserves to be told that they must change their body to be comfortable with themselves. That's where I'm so glad to have had to opportunity to represent @genspect, seeing people come into this conversation with compassion and concern regarding the long term prospects of those caught up in this medical scandal has been so healing for me as a survivor.

If a girl today likes having short hair, wearing jeans and loose t-shirts, climbing trees and playing with train sets, there's a good chance some adult -- her parent, a teacher, psychotherapist or online celebrity -- will suggest to her she's actually a boy.

The person who was hurt the second most by my transition was my mother. She might not have physical scars, but I think they took pieces of her away when they medicalized me.

I feel so guilty for every time she was told to pretend that I wasn't her daughter, everytime she was gaslight for her grief. I will never forget the way she took care of me after my breasts were removed.

I was in pain and afraid in a hotel room, and she was there for me, showering me and cleaning me off, helping me when I couldn't lift my arms and do it myself. I know that must have nearly destroyed her. I wanted to be destroyed.

This ideology rips apart families. I wish I could go back and know what I know now.

New laws in Afghanistan, introduced by the Taliban, mean that men can now marry girls at any age – there is no limit. Male relatives can arrange this with other men, and it’s only once the girls reach puberty that, in extremely limited circumstances, they can ask a court to dissolve the marriage. What’s happening in that country is horrific, and it begs the question why Amnesty are not putting all of their resources into tackling this latest child abuse atrocity.

It really is a horrific tragedy and a failure of the justice system that I was not able to file against the people who did this to me. I've been given all sorts of reasons, many regarding my presentation (i.e. the fact I paint my nails and dress how I want) or the fact I "should have realized the harm" when I was still a teenager, of course these excuses fall to the wayside when other detrans lawsuits are fought for and proceed. I also think it's unbecoming to imply that because a victim didn't get legal representation they must be somehow dishonest especially when so many different sources have seen and verified my records including the few pages I shared with @datadriven_tdoc and @AndInTheEnd2 prior to our Agree to Disagree about gender episode, including the "gender dysphoria scale" checklist I filled out in my first appointment. It's time to stop trying to deny, attack or reverse victims and offenders when it comes to those of us who were harmed by the affirmative model, especially as children as it doesn't serve the overall conversation well and certainly doesn't suit your narrative well.

Why? He clearly did not do enough research into my background, claims I've made, that parts of my records that are public, plus the sources who have reviewed and verified them, plus my mom risking her career to support my experiences, plus links I've provided multiple times here on X which discuss hematuria as a possible side effect of histrelin. The fact my story is the way it is should set off alarm bells for clinicians because even if you support gender interventions it's clear this field is failing catastrophically with the way it's operating. That should be the focus, instead of attempting to cast doubt on child survivors when they tell their stories.

I am begging critics of the puberty blocker trial to stop getting lost in the weeds arguing about research ethics, Gillick competence, informed consent, fertility preservation and the like. The NHS’s refusal to complete the Data Linkage Study (DLS) before proceeding with a new trial is the ONLY argument worth making on this issue. Everything else is a distraction.
The DLS would find out what has happened to all the children who have already taken puberty blockers. There is NO justification for proceeding with a puberty blocker trial before the DLS is complete. The entire programme of future research in this area should be informed by its results. The fact that the NHS is getting ready to run a live experiment on vulnerable children before it has even established the fate of those it has already experimented on is utterly damning.
The deeply disappointing Dr Cass should be widely derided for her ridiculous comments on ‘harm reduction’. The DLS IS harm reduction. Critics of the trial must stop fighting on their opponents turf by quibbling over technical details. We need to relentlessly force the DLS onto the agenda and expose the shameful hypocrisy of the NHS. DO THE DLS.

Die Kapitulation: Warum mein Scheitern mein grösster Sieg ist

Wir leben in einer Epoche des grenzenlosen Hochmuts. Uns wurde beigebracht, dass unser Wille das Mass aller Dinge sei. Dass wir unseren Körper wie Knete formen, unsere Identität wie ein Betriebssystem neu installieren und unsere Biologie durch Ideologie besiegen könnten. Ich habe diesen Krieg jahrzehntelang geführt. Ich habe Milliarden von Zellen ignoriert, um einem einzigen Gedanken zu gehorchen.

Heute weiss ich: Die Realität verhandelt nicht -

Man kann den Körper modifizieren, man kann die Sprache verbiegen und man kann Gesetze schreiben, die die Wahrheit unter Strafe stellen. Aber man kann den Hunger der Seele nach Echtheit nicht mit synthetischen Antworten stillen. Mein "Erwachen" war keine Entscheidung – es war eine Kapitulation. Und es war einer der wertvollsten Momente meines Lebens.

Es gibt eine ungeheure, fast grenzenlose Erleichterung darin, endlich aufzuhören, gegen das Offensichtliche zu kämpfen. Als ich aufhörte, ein "Konstrukt" sein zu wollen, und anfing, wieder ein Mann zu sein, fiel eine Last von mir, von der ich gar nicht wusste, dass ich sie trug. Es war die Last, "Gott" spielen zu wollen in einem Körper, der sterblich und gegeben ist.

Die Welt nennt mein Umkehren vielleicht ein Scheitern. Ich nenne es meine Rettung.

Wir haben Angst vor dem Wort "Gegebenheit". Wir wollen alles "erschaffen". Doch in diesem Wahn haben wir die Ehrfurcht vor der Grenze verloren – jener Grenze, die ich heute in meiner eigenen Versehrtheit als meinen sichersten Kompass trage. Sie erinnert mich jeden Morgen daran, dass ich ein Teil der Natur bin, kein Schöpfer.

Ich bin lieber ein beschädigtes Original als eine perfekte Kopie.
Denn die Kopie braucht Bewunderung, aber das Original braucht nur die Wahrheit.

Ich weiss, wie müde wir alle sind – vom ständigen Optimieren, Verstellen und Neuerfinden. Aber die Wahrheit braucht keine Kraftanstrengung. Nur die Lüge muss man jeden Tag aufs Neue stützen.

Ich habe die Stützen weggeworfen. Ich stehe auf dem nackten, harten Boden der Realität. Es ist ein kahler Ort, gezeichnet von den Spuren meines Irrtums, aber er ist unerschütterlich. Er trägt mich besser als jede Illusion. Zum ersten Mal im Leben versinken meine Füsse nicht mehr im Treibsand einer Behauptung.

Die Flucht ist vorbei. Ich bin einfach nur da ...

If I was given sex affirming care then I would've been spared a lifetime of medical harm and unbearable grief. I try to be strong as I'm so angry at what was done to me and I'm angry at the people who try to justify. Gender distressed kids need support as they grow so they can come to a deeper organic understanding of themselves and the distress they might be experiencing. Affirming their distress and offering surgery and hormones as a solution only sends the message that they aren't good enough as they are. It sends the message that only by reconstructive surgery and hormone induced body modifications will they be able to lead a normal life and be comfortable with themselves. I could not think of a worse thing to put in a child or adolescent's mind than that. I'm so thankful to see people such as @stellaomalley3 and @genspect for seeing the harm being perpetuated and trying to find solutions.

So he’s right that the baby doesn’t understand English yet and isn’t asking for its mom — “mama” is just one of the first sounds babies make in every language because it’s literally the easiest sound the human mouth can produce.

What’s interesting though is what’s supposed to happen when a baby makes that sound vs what’s happening here. In every human language, across every culture, the sound mamma means mother.

Baby says mama and the caregiver lights up and says I’m here, and the baby learns that particular sound has a meaning, and it’s meaning is “the most important person in the world who keeps me safe and fed”.

Language acquisition and attachment are basically happening simultaneously. So it’s not that the baby is consciously asking for a mom it knows it doesn’t have. It’s that the sound every human baby makes first — the sound that in literally every language means the person you are most safe with— is being met with resistance, which upsets the baby, and has no one to map onto.

Yes. Finland is the only country that is reporting follow up outcomes on all of the treated youth. The UK gender clinics have not made their data available. The Netherlands, which is the birthplace of pediatric gender medicine, only reports on patients who are willing to participate in follow-up, with 50 % dropout rates. Finland is the only country that is doing population level reporting on all of the presenting cases. The Finns began to ring alarm bells before any other country in mid 2010s, and are now coming out with some of the most comprehensive follow up studies.
