@IdrisAOni1@swankieDiva A bigger question: what really is categorized as ancestral lands?
Are basic residential/commercial properties in now recognized city & municipal areas regarded as ancestral lands because yoruba owners are legitimately selling their properties in order to get financial rewards?
@IdrisAOni1@swankieDiva Has the question of "why are they selling" been asked?
Secondly, has the fact that people (whether Yoruba or other peoples) sell properties out of the need for the financial rewards that meets other pressing needs or to reinvest in other ventures been considered?
@IdrisAOni1@swankieDiva If there are issues arising from either illegal or legal acquisition, then the proper thing is to look into and address those issues in particular, rather than a blanket call clouded in the need to preserve ancestral lands.
@IdrisAOni1@swankieDiva So far as these questions are not considered and addressed in apprioprate quarters and fashion, then these kind of calls will only remain insightful...
On another outlook, other Nigerian peoples have the right to acquire assets legitimately across the country...
@ugoknowtunji@meks2850@fimiletoks This comment of yours exposes you that you are making your comparison either with the wrong mindset or wrong parameters. Places like Banana Island, Maitama, and the likes; it will cost you 2m/month to rent the same standard of apartment you'll pay $1,500 in the US. Think about it
@ugoknowtunji@meks2850@fimiletoks You can't make such a comparison without comparing the basics that set these two societies apart... What is the comparison in standard of living? For the areas in Nigeria that provide standards that are close to what is attainable in the US, go there and ask what rent/month cost.
@BayoAriyo128416@meks2850@fimiletoks In actual context, housing in any major city in Nigeria is way more expensive than housing in major cities in the US. The standard of the space within the kind of decent neighborhood you'll pay $1,500/month in the US, I bet you'll pay $2,000 for the same in Nigeria.
@felixx_tweets @Spotlight_Abby One can't even say what he stands for in his journalism. To top the matter, some politicians say he's an objective journalist but where's the objectivity in this particular context... Clearly only when it soothes certain narratives. We are taking note of them all.
@eniolabakerr This is what you get when decision makers keep making decisions without broad engagements with relevant stakeholders and a robust consideration of the implications. When you look at happenings in Nigeria, you see this everywhere and every time... It's a trend now.
@Aeesha27 My point is: when the majority of the people in any society feel a protracted shortchange, the expected end is usually one of two things. It's either an implosion that will be bloody or bloodless. Just like the trend of leadership deterioration in Africa, this too is a must-trend
@Aeesha27 Oh well, as a reference to the past that the various democratic administrations experienced, had promised better societies for their citizens. What have we also seen? In recent times & in many ways, these democracies take these nations back so many years racing to the same 60s.

I was at the bank today & saw a frustrated customer who reminded me how patient I've been since 24-09-2021 in trying to get @MyFCMB to reverse a failed transaction done @myaccessbank ATM. This weekend I have time, I'll share a thread to show how these banks do this deliberately.
@Olusola70406607 @cletusAnes@AishaYesufu It makes sense that it was rigged in favour of PDP... It doesn't even matter whether it's Wike or not. The only thing certain is that it's not LP. So the question: at what point and by who? These things should be investigated with the answers/truth reported for all to see & hear.
@janettalkss @EbukaNgama @LateefLeland@ceen_tyia@DannyWalta Apologies for my explanation appearing in reply to your tweet. It's not exactly directed at you, my intent was to just share my perspective on the topic. Someone might pick something from it. We will never know who gets inspired to make a move with tweets&explanations like these
