KFS Honours Forest Rangers on World Ranger Day

The Kenya Forest Service (KFS) today marked World Ranger Day at the Forest Law Enforcement Academy (FoLEA), Mukutani, Baringo County, paying tribute to Forest Rangers for their courage and sacrifice in protecting Kenya's forests and natural heritage.

The event, presided over by @Environment_Ke, Cabinet Secretary @DeboraBarasa, honoured the 15 Rangers who lost their lives in the line of duty over the past year. Leaders reaffirmed the Government's commitment to improving Rangers' welfare, strengthening forest protection through modern technology, and supporting the national 15 Billion Tree Growing Programme.

Today, I had the honour of presiding over the Launch of Absa Kenya 2025 Sustainability and Climate Report in Nairobi

Environmental stewardship remains a key pillar of the sustainability journey. In 2025, @AbsaKenya planted 283,969 trees, bringing its cumulative total to more than 1.5 million trees. This contribution supports the Government of Kenya's Presidential Directive to grow 15 billion trees by 2032, demonstrating how the private sector is partnering with communities and government to restore degraded ecosystems, enhance biodiversity, and strengthen climate resilience.

Since 2022, Absa Kenya has mobilised KES 57.8 billion in climate finance, supporting initiatives in renewable energy, green buildings, energy efficiency, and climate-smart agriculture. These investments are helping to accelerate Kenya's transition to a low-carbon and climate-resilient future while advancing sustainable economic growth.

The report demonstrates how the private sector can complement government efforts by advancing sustainable finance, fostering innovation, and strengthening partnerships that deliver lasting environmental and social impact.

As climate change continues to shape our future, we must all embrace climate sustainability by adopting responsible environmental practices, supporting green investments, conserving natural resources, and working together to safeguard our planet.
