Punjab has once again been sidelined by the @AamAadmiParty
Sanjay Gupta, an outsider to Punjab, has been appointed Chairman of the Punjab State Electricity Regulatory Commission for the next five years, on the recommendation of a senior AAP leader.
To accommodate this appointment, 26 other eligible candidates were overlooked and even the requirement of a โworking knowledge of Punjabiโ was removed from the eligibility criteria.
AAP first handed Punjabโs Rajya Sabha seats to outsiders despite strong opposition from Punjabis. Now, another key institution has been placed in the hands of a non-Punjabi appointee.
I strongly oppose this anti-Punjab decision and demand that the government immediately withdraw this order and protect Punjabโs rights and representation.

3rd June 84-Sri Guru Arjan Dev ji's Shahidi purab... When thousands prayed, knowing the world outside had decided the Guru's home was battleground. We remember the shoes left behind, those who came but never went back.
The day our home bled....

The Aam Aadmi Party first handed over Punjabโs Rajya Sabha seats to leaders from outside the state. As a result, Punjabโs representation in the Rajya Sabha today rests in the hands of individuals who have failed to effectively raise and defend Punjabโs rights and concerns. This has weakened Punjabโs constitutional and political voice at the national level.
Now, even for an important position such as the Chairperson of the Punjab State Power Regulatory Commission, a person from outside Punjab has been appointed. For this crucial post, which is directly connected to Punjabโs rights and sensitive issues, more than two dozen qualified and experienced officers from Punjab were overlooked. Furthermore, the requirement of knowledge of the Punjabi languageโgenerally considered essential for such an appointmentโwas removed, which is also contrary to Punjabโs linguistic and administrative dignity.
On behalf of Shiromani Akali Dal (Punarsurjeet), we strongly oppose this anti-Punjab appointment and warn the Chief Minister to immediately revoke this decision. A qualified officer from Punjab, who understands the stateโs issues and concerns, should be appointed to this important position without delay.
AAP sidelined Punjabis to parachute a Himachali bureaucrat into Punjab State Electricity Regulatory Commission.
The same Sanjay Gupta who has faced allegations of acquiring prime government land at throwaway prices & who was made Chief Secretary just 5 days before retirement.
