Started a Substack, to get some thoughts on my old beats out there. It’s free. Figured I’d share my first PSU post, on the importance of pursuing future hope over present wins in a lost season. CMC needs to embrace the benefits of pursuing the hope.

We need to be careful using words like "amazing" and "committed" when athletes make these types of decisions. They're dangerous and shouldn't be celebrated. You don't see it while you're playing, but once you retire, you realize how hypnotized you were.
@TimBrando@BrockInVegas Broadcasting is an oversaturated field. And it’s a hard job. Have to be special to do it at the level Tim has gotten to. He does a great job. I’ve heard more than 1 kid out of college suggest veterans just get out of the way so they can have their turn. Always sad to see.
@Hermieprops So the point really is that since I've seen PSU play outstanding defense for the better part of the last quarter century, I am imminently qualified to point out bad defense when I see it.
You, on the other hand, should be quiet about offense.
@Hermieprops A (very) bad PSU offense ranked a few spots ahead of Iowa in scoring offense this season. Also, kind of embarrassing they're only averaging 3 more ppg.
@icwt107k Fair point. I was kind of just commenting on the tackling on that particular play. Honestly doesn't matter how bad they are this weekend. Their offense is going to score 40-50.
@Hermieprops Point is, Iowa’s offense is traditionally so inept that you pointing out how bad PSU’s offense is really drives the point home for me. Like, even Iowa fans who know pathetic offense like nobody else know this is bad. Actually adds a layer of ineptitude.
The NFL can not and should not be taken seriously as a league. Celebrating this hit a week after the call against Miami - on the same hit - for roughing the passer is completely tone deaf.
FWIW...neither should be roughing. Or both should. As the comments correctly pointed out.
@Hermieprops I didn’t say they didn’t. USC’s defense hasn’t been good either. I think I’m qualified to say both.
Also, iowa’s offense is pathetic. Always is.
@Hermieprops Of course, because PSU playing lousy defensively means I can’t comment on other teams playing lousy defensively? Do I lose my right to point out lousy defense because Penn state also played lousy defense?
