@jasonc_nc And houses in Europe are built of wood as well. Still capable of extinguishing fires though…
Maybe if Americans stopped knockimg out all wimdows, then feeding oxygen to the fire, and having more efficient nozzles it would not require flooding a burning building.
With Ukrainian drone attacks continuing to force temporary shutdowns of Russian airports, one Russian paper today reports that “Russians have started to use fortune telling cards to tell them what date they should fly off on holiday.” #ReadingRussia
@WarMonitorClips Desperate times, desperate measures (and a ‘why not, it might work’ attitude).
I hope they got them, the Serbs were a brutal bunch with a Russian level of contempt for human life.
@Rory_Johnston Seems Vance (not surprisingly) suffers from projection bias. Just bc you would behave in a certain way under pressure is not reason to believe that your opponent would do the same.
@RadioFreeTom There is a (selfinflicted) shortage of critical munitions; recruitment is underperforming; insufficient numbers of ships, aircrafts, etc.
And this is what DOD spend its time on.
@mlehr3@wartranslated Their targeting systems and the qualifications of their crew has never been top calls, and they are getting worse.
It is well reported that that Russians accidentally drop bombs on Russia weekly.
5,000 tons of Russia’s Navy ammunition near St. Petersburg is gone.
Eight Ukrainian deep strike drones got through air defenses and triggered a massive secondary detonation — United24. 1/
@1066Neil@Mylovanov@TarasKachkowski Constant degradation of naval abilities in all seas that the Russian navy has presence is part of changing the calculation, just as taking nuclear armed bombers out with Spiderweb. Russia losing the ability to defend itself against others is not in their longterm interest.
One Russian paper today: “In many Russian regions there are restrictions on the sale of petrol.” Another reports that, in Crimea, hotel bookings are “down 31%...& hotel cancellations double due to the fuel crisis.” #ReadingRussia
@simongerman600 Yet the speed limits in Europe are generally higher than in the US. The normal speed on highways is 130 kmph/80 mph where 65mph is the norm in the US. Not nearly as many hell-or-the-highway drivers, way better surfaces, and a number of other factors.
@SoonerVirginia Considering that it took Eisenhower to experience German motorways before the US finally got the eureka moment to build interstate highways, we might have to wait until the end of the next war with China for the US to start building HS rail.
