Patrick Surtain II asked Richard Sherman what Cornerback behavior makes his skin crawl, Sherman didn't hold back: Donโt look back for the ball! ๐
Cornerback is a "gambling manโs sport"โplaying scared or conservative gets you beat. ๐ฎโ๐จ
Pat Surtain II: "What's something that corners do today that just make your skin crawl? That you can't stand?"
Sherman calls out DBโs who run alongside receivers in perfect position without ever turning to play the football:
Sherman: "It's gonna sound lazy, but just looking back for the ball. Like, it pisses me off... You in phase, and you just running alongside looking at him. He's like, 'Bro, what are you doing? Look, turn around!' And then by the time they turn around, ball fly past them into their hands."
He breaks down why playing DB requires an aggressive, risk-taking mindset rather than playing conservative.โ
Sherman: "I just hate dudes that play scared like that. Like, scared money don't make no money, and you already play corner... It's a gambling man's sport out there. You can't play conservative corner."
Sherman explains why he'll give up short catches if it means baiting the quarterback into game-changing interceptions.
Sherman: "Look, you could beat me on a hitch comeback if I'm looking for the ball... I'll tackle that. I live with that. But for all the comebacks you catch, the two fades you throw that I pick, gonna be worth it."
Is DB the toughest position in football?
