@QiaochuYuan It drives me nuts that so many of these things get pinned on societal changes that should be slow continuous increases (phones, sedentary lifestyle, etc) when there's such a clear break when everyone in the world got SARS 2 once or twice over a 2 year span
This is a nice lull and great news.
As a reminder, in fall 2021 (post vaccine), Fauci said a reasonable level of covid circulating to remove precautions would be 10k cases/day. This is the first time we’ve fallen below 100k cases/day in the nearly 5 years since
@Qlanth@diaknight Notably, long covid seems to disproportionately hit young people in good physical shape.
I'm sure the powders/vapes/etc are at play, just saying that "hitting fit people who exercise a lot" is consistent with other negative effects of COVID rather than the exception
@SalvMattera In re what you said about medicine doing a bad job of thinking about risk, their weighting system puts an enormous premium on "you get it, and it kills you in 3-10 years no matter what" over " you get it, and it ruins your life, but you keep drawing breath"
@kaztheminotaur@kylecorwintakes I think swapping pistons and tigers over to Honolulu blue and keeping the wings the same would be cool too. None of my business though
