I noticed that a lot of universities in the Philippines do not have (or its information hidden) a grade appeal system. It gives professors the power to hand unfair or arbitrary grades, wherein students have no (or do not know) systematic avenue to dispute their grades. How sad!

The university disciplinary department handled the sanction of a 7th-grade student appallingly, so much so that he concluded in his young mind that his future had been irretrievably broken, and the only way to escape it was through what he did.

So if a Prof thought of the concept of the research but the RA did most, if not all, of the experiment, writing the paper, etc., the RA should be the lead author and not the Prof? Asking for a friend.

She argues this is consistent with other behavioral scientists, but this doesnt sound right to me.

If an RA does everything from write the IRB to run the studies and analyze the data, they should be an author—likely lead author,. This is guided by ethical guidelines (eg APA).
