My quote in the article: “raising the daily entries to 7,000 a day is not a long term solution, it’s a temporary fix. We would like to see an increase in this number quickly.”
@konotaromp Dear @konotaromp, the PM mentioned 1000 flight seats per day for students Monday to Thursday. The number is still very low, since it will require 5 months for all 150,000 waiting students
Is the 1000 only for ANA/JAL or for all airlines?
He says it here: https://t.co/qennDO6E47
Japanese Government will establish a “Foreign Student Support Center”. From March until May,ANA/JAL are supposed to set aside certain numbers of seats for foreign students coming to high schools/universities/language schools. Students should coordinate with schools.
Have had interview appointments with two newspapers and a magazine about Japan’s slow relaxation of border restrictions.
We need to push a little stronger the government to invest in this problem.
BREAKING: Prime Minister Fumio Kishida announces Japan will raise the daily cap on arrivals to 7,000 and extend quasi-emergencies in 18 out of the 31 prefectures where the measure is currently in effect. https://t.co/wyHPn1RqEf
Press conference from Prime Minister Kishida expected to announce further relaxations about the borders is starting now: https://t.co/t0GvjrvaHe
The live chat is open, they either didn't notice or they left it open on purpose because it's going to be good news😅

I'll look for accurate info about how this prioritization will work. I'm glad that our request to let students enter to start the April term has been understood & welcomed by the government! 🙂💪
I look forward to the cap to be removed and more relaxations for other categories!
It's official!
From March 14 the number of entries (including Japanese re-entry) will be increased from 5000 to 7000.
Since the new semester starts in April, Japan will prioritize student entries on weekdays when business entries are low
